“Well Known Landmark Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

So sorry I never got to rate this restaurant sooner. We went here for my birthday What a wonderful way to celebrate. The service is impeccable, the views are magnificent with lots of glass all around the room. We had 4 courses and was difficult to get up and walk by the end. I was so stuffed.

The food is amazing. It doesn't matter what you order as everything coming to the tables looked magnificent and certainly what I had was so tasty.

Don't hesitate to make a special trip to Milton, NY to come to this landmark restaurant that has been serving superior culinary dishes since around 1937.

Can't wait to go back again.

“What a Total Disappointment........Go for the EARLY BIRD!!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

We went to this restaurant on Saturday 5/25/13, hearing nothing but raves about the ambience, service, and most importantly the food. We had a 7:30 reservation and we were seated promptly at a very nice table. The waiter assigned to us was pretty impatient, and wanted us to place a drink order immediately, which was really okay. He told us about the specials of the evening, many of which sounded wonderful. By the time we ordered our food, it was approximately 7:45 or 7:50 PM. There were 4 of us and we ordered 3 of the specials for the evening. We were told that they were sorry, but there was no soft-shell crab left, no rib-eye steak left, and no tomato and mozzerella salad left (which they proudly said they make on the premises.) They made no excuses, no apologies and one of the other waiter was overheard saying, "what are we supposed to do, we sold out and that's our job.) At this point it would have been difficult to leave since the drive was almost an hour from our home. We ultimately ordered other food, which was good, but not what we wanted. The maitre'd did not come over to apologize, there was no coffee offered as a thoughtful gesture. Needless to say, we will not go back, and beware if you do go....make sure it is early when everything could possibly be on the menu.

“Good food nice atmosphere - care if you have allergies”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

This is a traditional family run steak house. We went there for a family celebration. The lighting is low, the noise Saturday night is loud when the place is full. There was a band playing in the next room - we couldn't hear the band for the talk. The food was good, cooked as requested - rare was rare, however my wife who has allergies despite the full explanation still got food with butter on it. Don't even think about going here with a grain allergy - especially if you are very sensitive to it (e.g. Celiac's). Towards the end of the evening the food selection may be limited (no baked potatoes, swordfish etc). For a high end steak house a little disappointing - while the food was good, service seemed a little erratic and sadly didn't cater to those who suffered from allergies.
Average rating given due to the prices, lack of catering to allergies and running out of too many menu options on a Saturday night.

“Wonderful Old-School Charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

The meal was wonderful, and the service was AMAZING!!! Absolutely the best place we have found in this tiny town. The service made me think of the old days at Tavern on the Green!

“Old fashion dining experience.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013 via mobile

I ate here with a group of friends for Hudson valley restaurant week because the menu looked interesting, and it received very good reviews. The entrance this place felt like a portal that shot us back 50 years. The decor is very old fashion as is everything else about this place.

Everyone in our group liked the food but found the appetizers to be more interesting then the entrees. We got the salmon pinwheels and duck salad to start and they were both delicious. Members of my group liked the hen and beef Wellington but the sides lacked in complexity and taste. Broccoli with hollandaise, spinach, and mash potatoes were all cooked just fine but needed more seasoning. I got the salmon which again was cooked fine but had a sweet glaze on it that was a bit too sweet for my taste. The regular menu is very extensive and quite pricey. We also found the wine list to be a bit limited.

The servers were charming older men who were all excellent and adorable.

Although we did enjoy our food I don't see my self going back here until the next HVRW.
