“Great make-over and great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel several times, always on the last leg of our European vacations when we drive part of the way home from Newark Airport. Therefore, we always arrive exhausted and jetlagged. The staff has always been attentive, accomodating, and very friendly. This year, in addition to the great staff, the hotel has undergone a first-rate make-over. The lobby and the rooms have all been beautufully redone, making our stay even more pleasant. Being right next door to Outback, the hotel is very convenient for those who, like us, just want to park the car, have a good meal, and a good night's sleep. I have reviewed other Courtyards that could do with a make-over. The Middletown, NY property could serve as a good model.

We stayed here while on the Warwick leg of the Shawangunk Wine Trail. The hotel was relatively close to the wineries, which is why we chose to stay there. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms were clean. The hotel was nice and looks like it was most likely renovated not too long ago-- and if it was not renovated, then they do a really nice job of keeping it up. The desk staff was friendly enough. The biggest complaint was that breakfast took forever. It is a cafe breakfast, so you have to pay extra and stand on line at a counter to order, but it would have probably taken less time if we went to a restaurant for breakfast. There was only one person taking orders, but there were 3 behind the counter. Other than that, our experience there was pleasant.

(a) Greeted by a warm front office personnel, Mariana. We were introduced to the surrounding of the hotel (i.e. shopping, restaurant and etc).

(b) Rooms were spacious, clean and neat. We initially thought this property opened a year or two but was surprised to learn that it has been 8 years since they opened their doors. Apparently some of the rooms were refurbished.

(c) The toiletries used were great and we love them all.

(d) Lounge area was a great place to relax. With the complimentary coffee machines and other beverages, we find it a great place to chill.

(e) Printing services available at the lobby makes it easy for us to print our coupons before we go crazy shopping at the nearby Woodbury Factory Outlet!

(f) This property is certainly value for money. We've never regret staying here!

The only setback was the hotel does not include complimentary breakfast in the room rate.

Room Tip: Everything was great at this property. Love the rooms.

Good service, quiet , clean hotel and very nice comfortable rooms. Modern Decor throughout.
Hotel is a little pricey compared to others I have stayed at with like ammeneties.
Standard rate is 150.00 w/tax $ 170
Use AAA disc. or Senior age 62 +

Loved the outdoor sitting areas.
Enjoyed the pool and the spa-- very clean.
Nice fitness center too.
Had a cocktails in the lounge area ---- good drinks . Top shelf items available.
Cafe menu -- looked at but did not try .
Smoke Free Hotel.

Cons:
Pool was a little chilly but doable and the Spa was definitely a little to hot . They should turn down the heat on the spa just a little bit.

Cafe reminded me of an open cafeteria with pricey items.
Outback, TGI Fridays, Chili's and SoHo Grill all right next door.
Went to the Soho ( See review) .

All in all I would recommend this hotel for it's superb cleanliness, comfort and proximity.

There's not much in Middletown, but if you're in the area for whatever reason, this is a great hotel to stay at. Good service, clean hotel and really nice rooms. I've never been disappointed here when I'm in the area for business. A few restaurants very nearby and the on ramp to Route 17 make this really convenient.

Stayed here for the weekend with my son for a nearby youth baseball tournament. Rooms were clean and had everything we needed. We really appreciated the flexible space in the lobby that also offered PC and internet access. Although they don't have a traditional restaurant, the "café" served decent food with just the right options for our needs. The 24-hour snack "shop" was a nice touch too. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was plentiful and convenient. The equipment in the exercise room was in good condition and the room was well stocked with water and towels. We didn't use the pool/whirlpool but it looked rather small and was pretty crowded with noisy kids both from this hotel and the one next door that I guess has access to the pool.

One major complaint is that there seems to be a disconnect between the reservations system and the hotel rooms. We booked a room with 2 Queen beds, and got a confirmation stating that. When we arrived at the hotel, they had us down for a room with 1 King. That was very confusing. But when we showed our reservation they were able to make the switch. Unfortunately, we overheard this same problem for people who arrived after us, and they were out of rooms with 2 beds. If they don't fix this problem, they are going to have a lot of unhappy guests.

Room Tip: Avoid the first floor near the pool because that area can get a lot of traffic/noise.

Overall, a very nice hotel. Appeared clean for the most part. (I did find part of a cigarette wrapper under my bed.) There was ample space, beautiful decor. The lobby had lovely sitting areas and we much enjoyed sitting outdoors in the courtyard. There is an area in the lobby which looks like a nice restaurant (with prices to match) it was a bit too open for my taste though. Luckily there are many resaurants nearby. The fitness center was a decent size and not packed. The fitness center seemed well equipped with flat screen televisions, towels and cooler (which was missing cups at the time) The pool area was decent. An indoor pool and hottub with some chairs and small tables. There were plenty of clean towels as well. It is open 6am-11pm which is later than many places. We thought we'd go there late after we assumed children would be in bed, but there were about twenty kids running around apparently unsupervised until closing. For adults I would say the best time to swim is early in the day. Our room was a good size. It included a flat screen television with cable tv and HBO, a dorm size refrigerator, microwave, desk, and couch that turned into a bed if needed. The bathroom lock didn't seem to be in working order, I suppose this might matter if staying with family. I was a little disappointed that there was no safe in the room and no atm in the area, but the front desk was willing to cash a personal check which was very helpful. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. It was in a good area. The staff was all pleasant and courteous. My fiance was a little disappointed that the entire hotel was smoke free. Not a place I would suggest staying for smokers, but otherwise a very nice stay that I would recommend.
