“Absolutely the BEST!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2014

A great getaway for sure on Long Island . So close to so many wineries. Dave can give you some great information and map out a wine tour for you. The rooms are huge and loved the pool table. The lounge is where it's at and spent most of the time.
The Cedar House is beautiful and spotless. The breakfast was amazing. We will be back for sure. Thanks Dave & Donna

This charming B&B on the North Fork of Long Island in the heart of wine country has quickly become one of our favorite places to stay for a short getaway. Although only a short drive from our home, entering the Cedar House on Sound B&B feels like a special getaway. From the moment you check in, your hosts Dave and Donna will make you feel as welcome as old friends.

We have stayed in three of the five rooms available, including the master suite and the two courtyard rooms, which are located off the kitchen. All of the rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated. The only thing that has deterred us from staying in the two vineyard suites are the red walls, which don't appeal to my husband. I'm guessing most guests would gladly overcome their aversion to red walls once they discover the benefit of staying in one of these extremely private rooms which overlook a small vineyard and give its guests prime access to the B&B's cozy tasting room and outdoor courtyard with a fire pit, which is well tended each night when the weather is amenable. There is no better way to enjoy a night in the heart of North Fork vineyard country than by the side of a cozy fire while chatting it up with other guests. One additional amenity that we really appreciated was the turndown service. Imagine returning from a night out to discover the beds turned down, the pillows topped with a locally hand-crafted chocolate, and a bottle of water placed on the bedside table.

If you're not already sold on the merits of the Cedar House B&B, consider the fact that they also have a gorgeous great room and lounge with a pool table, a beautiful courtyard, and convenient proximity to several fine restaurants and vineyards, including Macari Vineyards, A Mano Restaurant, Love Lane Kitchen, and Shinn Estate Vineyard.

Add to that the fact that they serve a delicious full breakfast that will sustain those guests who plan on venturing out for wine tasting or a bicycle ride through the vineyards. Dave prides himself on serving a breakfast that is both satisfying and fulfills your individual needs. When we specified our need for a vegetarian breakfast, Dave went out of his way to deliver up delicious breakfasts on several occasions, including a marinated portabello mushroom topped with poached eggs, as well as a breakfast potato which my husband describes as an "omelette in a potato that was to die for."

It should be noted that although this is an ideal getaway for couples without children and/or pets in tow, Dave and Donna have a pet German Shepard and two small children. If you are someone who is intimidated by large dogs or small children, you might want to consider booking one of the vineyard suite rooms toward the back of the house, which is somewhat removed from the family's daily activities. That being said, despite my husband's fear of dogs and our aversion to having children of our own, we have never viewed this as a problem.

We will definitely be back. Our only regret is that we might have limited our chances of getting a reservation by letting others in on our little secret.

We stayed here over Valentine's weekend and Dave and Donna made our weekend very special. We were 5 couples and had all 5 rooms. The rooms are clean and cozy, the house is spectacular and Dave is a great breakfast cook and makes interesting selections! He is very accomodating and helped out with sites to see and things to do! We are all booked gain for next year.

Room Tip: Just go and enjoy!

What a welcome treat to stay at Cedar House. You can immediately feel the warmth and charm of the inn as soon as you enter the door. Dave and Donna have done an incredible job with this special place on Long Island's own North Fork. Make it a point to stay with them on your next venture out East!

My family rented every room in Cedar House for my sister's wedding weekend in September. My parents had previously stayed a few years prior and raved about Dave & Donna and the Cedar House experience... I can truly say this is one of the most charming places I have ever stayed. Dave welcomed us in with open arms and treated us like members of his own family. The breakfast he cooks (which he will tailor to your dietary needs) was AMAZING- think twice baked potato with poached egg on top served with fresh fruit!!! The grounds are immaculately maintained. Dave assisted with every detail of hosting a rehearsal dinner on site and oversaw the whole experience. The rooms are beautifully appointed with incredibly comfortable beds! I cannot say enough good things about Cedar House and I am already thinking about when my next visit will be.

My husband and I had just been in the city for my birthday, so it was a nice welcome to find a beautiful, quiet place at Cedar House. Dave and Donna were wonderful hosts and they made us feel like we were friends visiting. Dave's recommendations were spot on, from the Italian restaurant A Mano's to a nice little Day Spa. Besides the friendly attmosphere my favorite memories where returning in the evenings to a nice fire out on the back patio to drink our wine we had chosen from the Cedar House bar. In the mornings Dave made an amazing breakfast, he loves to cook and it shows!
We would most definately return to Cedar House!

Dave and Donna have done an incredible job... So much so that I was inspired to write my first tripadvisor review. The B&B is amazing. It feels like you're across the world at an Italian villa. They make every guest feel like a friend and recommend the best places to go to. Do yourself a favor and plan a weekend getaway here... drink your evenings away by the fire pit, and indulge in Dave's incredible breakfasts! My boyfriend and I loved our stay and booked our room for next year before we left!
