“great modern B and B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2012

Just came back from a weeked at the Cedar House on Sound. We spent two days there and it was great. The B & B is a renovated barn/farm house. They did a great job. The place is beautifully decorated and spacious. We stayed in a vineyard room, which was perfect, as it was right off the back patio area and overlooked their vineyard. The bedrooms were large all with private bathrooms. The rooms were modern, with a king size bed, ipod deck and flat screen TV.
There are sevearl areas of the house which you can hang out in, but as our room was in the back, and it there was great weather, we mainly hung out in the back of the house. There is also a huge bar area, as they aslo have their own wine label (scarola wine). Dave and Donna are the owners and do a fantastic job at making everyone feel welcome. They both provided a ton of information regarding places to try and on wine inself. They were able to help us make arrangments to get around for the day at the wineries without having to drive, which is huge ( I highly recommd Scott from causal Pointe Transportation as well) and Dave made last minute dinner reseravations for us as well.
Breakfast is served in the mornings and is cooked by David. He goes out of his way to try and make sure that your dietary needs are met (ie.. no cheese, no meat, no mushrooms..). They also hosted a wine tasting on sat afternoon for the guests, where they offerred tastings of thier own labels wines.
This is def the place to stay for a nice weekend out east.

We spent a couple of days mid-week in April and had a great time! The room was gorgeous, quiet and very clean, breakfast was outstanding, and David and Donna were very friendly and offered lot of great tips for where to go & what to do. As hosts they really go the extra mile to make sure you make the most of your stay - and we certainly did! Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: We loved taking a nature walk near the lake behind the B&B.

Spent a weekend here with my boyfriend, and it was fabulous. This was his first B+B, and being a self-proclaimed "hotel" guy, he was a little apprehensive. This place couldn't have been more perfect. The B+B is in a large recently renovated barn that is warm, inviting, spacious, and nicely decorated. You enter into a large great room that is solely for guests, with a TV, couch, and pool table. Off of that room is a bar/tasting room. The guest rooms are nicely spread out throughout the place, so you don't feel on top of each other. The kitchen is also very spacious with separate tables, which was nice because you could chat with the other guests, but didn't have to if you didn't want to. Aside from the physical space, what makes this place great, though, is Dave. He was such a warm host, super-helpful, and he served up delicious breakfasts. He gave us great recommendations for which vineyards to visit and places for dinner, even going so far as making reservations for us. In all, a great weekend at an awesome B+B. We would totally go back -- hopefully with friends!

David and Donna have an exceptional B&B business. From the moment we walked into the inn, we knew that we made the right choice. Just beautiful!! David is warm and charming and made us feel very comfortable. The accommodations are outstanding, we could not ask for better. David also prepared two wonderful, creative breakfast meals on the two days we spent there. Kudos to a great job and we will be back for another visit in the future. Thanks for a great visit.

Room Tip: All the rooms are very nice. The only difference is the size of the room and bed.

Dave and Donna are outstanding individuals, and they truly made us feel like a part of their family. They accomodated our schedule, such as breakfast and the wine tasting. They also provided us so much insight into the area and the building of their wonderful home. We look forward to come back next March to see them again.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend in November 2011, with another couple. It was great! The hosts were warm and inviting from the moment we stepped in. They were helpful with where to go, what to do (and what NOT to do). They made dinner reservations for us, had a wine tasting in the evening, arranged for a car to take us out to the restaurant, and bring us back (so that we didn't have to be concerned with drinking and driving). The breakfast Sunday morning was superb! Dave is a fantastic cook. Again he and his wife Donna are very friendly and inviting!

The rooms were spacious and clean! The bed was comfortable! The decor is modern, updated and simple. The grounds are great as well. We sat out at night and enjoyed a glass of wine by the fire pit then sat out on the same patio the following morning enjoying a cup of coffee. Couldn't have been a better weekend and will absolutely go back!
