Greatly disappointed in our stay at the Motel. The room was clean, but run down. The room was musty and had a sewer smell that came from the shower. It was unpleasant and really put a damper on our anniversary weekend. The room was clean but many parts needed repair. Paint bubbling and peeling in the bathroom ceiling, tiles in the bathroom were cracked and missing caulking, there were large holes in the tiles around the doors. The shower floor was peeling and looked dirty. The sink was rusted along the top. The carpet was bunched in places. Our bed felt weird when we layed on it, upon inspection there were 2 pieces of plywood crisscrossed between the mattress and box spring. That was unacceptable. The drapes were so old and threadbare that the light in the morning shined right in. The lake view that was spoken so highly about was very minimal from our room. Hot water was hard to keep even at 8pm. It went quickly from hot to ice cold back to hot and so on. After a day of hiking, all you want is to get clean. Minimal towels and no one in the office to ask for more. Maybe the cottages are nicer. The staff was pleasant and welcoming. She also helped us with a restaurant recommendation. There was a nice beach area with hammocks and chairs. I took the ratings from other Trip Advisor travelers and thought we were going to have a nice stay. Honestly, we couldn't wait to leave. I know that the vintage Motel is the way of the Adirondacks- but we just felt that for the $95.00 per night we weren't getting anywhere near that value. I think next time we will try for a cottage or continue on to Tupper Lake.
