“Simply Awesome Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2006

Awesome location, Great Service, The cleanest hotel I've seen in this category. I will definitely stay at this place again when ever i come to New York. $2 in the subway and you are in timesquare in 6 stops - 15 mintues - cannot get better than this.

I definitely recommend this place to all travellers to new york city. - why waste money in manhattan.

Having stayed there now for four nights, I am very pleased with the experience. Convenient location for the touristy part of my trip (1 minute to the subway and if the weather is nice you can also have a nice walk across the bridge...), good price, breakfast included (cereals, toast, bagles etc for breakfast, free tea and coffee all day), a fitnessroom (though I didn't check that one out yet),comprehensive room features (including hair dryer, iron, safe and most importantly free high speed internet!). Almost nothing to be missed here, besides maybe windows blocking the noice better. But blame the generally low-cost construction you often meet in the US.

Very recommendable to stay here if you can afford slightly higher prices (above $100, still cheap here!) but don't want to throw out 250 or so...

Don't expect nice surroundings with theaters, restaurants etc - you need to take the sub to other places for this. But if you want a nice place to sleep than consider. Ideal also for any business stays close to the City-Bank central - 5 minutes to walk!

Had mixed feelings about booking this place after reading the reviews as a mum travelling with three young children I was concerned about safety. However the reviews and the budget lured us in and I'm pleased it did. It's hard to know where to start! The rooms were cosy, but were very clean. The security was excellent and felt safe at all times. In fact, I felt safe coming home on the subway, even at 10pm after a broadway show. There were always plenty of people on the trains and there always seemed to be police around the station. The hotel is less than a block from the station. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and wanted to bend over backwards to help or accommodate our needs. The price is amazing considering how expensivw it is to stay in Manhattan. I could purchase a weekly metro card for $24 which gave me unlimited access to trains and buses. The children were free. We could jump on the train and be in Times Square in about 15 mins, start to finish. The breakfast area is small and could sometimes wait for a table, but it was more than adequate.

The only down side is that we were visiting New York during their transit strike which left us a little isolated. Taxis were phenomenally expensive, so we walked the 2 miles into town. At least it was possible and was not at all the fault of the staff, even if it was very annoying.

Would highly recommend this place as it really is a hidden gem.

We were quite surprised with this hotel. We have stayed at Comfort Inns quite frequently and this was one of the nicest we've been in. The rooms were very clean and nicely furnished, reflecting how new the hotel was. I can see why people say the neighborhood is questionable but we walked around several times well past midnight and felt completely safe. The location is very convenient and the subway easy to get to. It's about five minutes to Times Square. The only two drawbacks were: 1) the lobby furniture needs to be replaced. The sofas were dirty enough that I didn't want to sit on them. This is a simple and inexpensive thing the hotel could fix as it diminishes the first impression of the hotel. However, it's such a minor detail, it should not dissuade you from selecting this hotel. 2) Trains are hard to come by late at night. It took us over an hour to get back from the city one night, so if you'll be out past 2am very frequently, this will be a nuisance for you. Other than that, I would highly recommend this hotel as you can't beat the price.

This is a little gem. Staff was great, very friendly and accommodating. Lobby was glowing and room was very clean. Nice soap and shampoo. Shower faucets a little hard to figure out - had to call to desk clerk (pull out the ring - you'll see).

Breakfast nook with continental breakfast was very nicely stocked and a pleasant place to sit. Other travellers that joined us were tourists, US and foreign, and business travellers.

Our 8th floor room had a fabulous view of the Citibank building and a glorious sunset. (If you stood to look out the window, you could see the junkyard. So sit down. You've had a long day.)

The neighborhood was a little seedy but I felt pretty safe. Take the usual precautions, you're in NYC.

The Comfort Inn is a half block from the elevated Queensborough Plaza "R" train station - if you are at the back of the train coming from Manhattan you can almost see it from the station.

And the Queensborough Plaza station is 5 min from Manhattan (E 59th St) - and in range of anything you want to do in Manhattan. Go the other way on the subway to Broadway or 30th Ave and you have your choice of excellent Greek, Indian, Italian and other ethnic restaurants, most very affordable.

We never would have been able to stay in NY if not for this great place. With AAA discount, less than $130. Great place, great staff. Thanks!

Rooms were clean, staff friendly, price was great. This is one of the less expensive places to stay in NY, if you do your research then you will know this! The only downside to this hotel was the lack of parking. There are spaces on the street, but you have to make sure you take everything out of your car! leave nothing on show. My car sat there for two days without any problems.

The train/subway is literally 1 minute from the hotel, absolutley ideal for getting to and from the city (goes straight into grand Central or 5th Ave).

The rooms werent huge, but you dont go to NY to sit in your rooms!! They were certainly big enough.

Recommended.
