“Convenient, Clean and Friendly Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

This hotel is located in a working class/industrial neighborhood but I always felt safe. In fact people on the street were quite helpful and friendly. There is a very good new Thai restaurant within walking distance on Crescent Street and 28th I think. The breakfast area gets overcrowded so go early. This is a nice not fancy hotel with friendly, helpful staff. There is construction going on next to hotel but the noise doesn't start till 7:30 AM

Room Tip: Right now all rooms are affected by the construction in progress on three sides of the hotel.

It was a good price for the location, around 1 block away from the Queensborough Subway stop, and a safe area to walk at night. Small rooms, hallways and breakfast area. As in every place in NYC, no parking on the premises.

My husband and I, after complications at our first hotel, booked a room for our week-long vacation in NYC's Long Island City at the 'Comfort Inn'. We used Priceline.com as our booking method, and paid for our stay in full up-front before arriving at the hotel.

Two days into our stay at the Comfort Inn, we began noticing several large-bite marks on our legs, arms, & torso. Neither of us could recall swatting at mosquitoes at all beforehand, so we deduced that the only culprmit could be within our sheets as we slept, ie, the dreaded bedbugs.

Ewwww.

We called the front office and alerted them of the problem, letting them know we didn't think that the bites we received came from outdoor mosquitoes, but instead from the bed in our hotel room. They offered to inspect the room and switch us to another(something we were already considering doing due to the jackhammer construction going on directly across from our initial room), and we were placed into another room that day. We also had to spend four hours of our honeymoon in NYC going to convenience stores buying trash bags & detergent for our contaminated clothing, and washing them at a local Laundromat.

We asked to speak to a mgr at the hotel, but the head mgr was gone for the weekend. At no point did any staff member alert the mgr that we had an issue with bedbugs in our room. We found this to be quite unprofessional given the severity of the situation.

After we cleaned all of our clothing, we checked our bank balance to discover a $85 hold/charge from Comfort Inm for our room, something not discussed with us or expected, since we had paid for our room up front. When we asked why we were charged this amount, they told us it was a 'fluke' in their system, but should be returned shortly. This amount has yet to be returned, and has also contributed to a $37 charge in banking overdraft fees. The front desk clerk promised this $85 charge would immediately be removed, but we have yet to see those funds on our statement,

This trip had been made more difficult due to the hygienic & financial issues caused by Comfort Inn. Not only were we extremely disgusted by discovering bedbugs in our bed, but we also had to deal with our funds being affected by mystery charges to our credit card. There was never any pro-active communication from the hotel staff(although staff member 'Andre' was sympathetic), and we were never contacted by the hotel manager offering any apology or their sympathies, leading us to believe that the mgr was never alerted to these issues within the hotel. To add to the list of issues during our stay, the sink & coffee maker in both rooms leaked water onto the floor and table, and there was no microwave or refrigerator in either of our rooms, preventing us from keeping any of food or leftovers. We didn't ask much as newlyweds, just to have a simple NYC getaway. What we got was six days of torture courtesy of Comfort Inn LIC Queens. We will never stay there, we will never recommend the hotel to anyone, and while we hope some form of restitution for all of the bogus charges & bedbug issues, we remain skeptical based upon our experiences from the past few days.

Dear Guest,

We are not sure if your are just trying to create a bad impression about our hotel or you are mad about something. But we have no record of such an incident and we are extremely pro active about dealing with our customers as can be seen from numerous reviews posted here.

I hope trip-adivisor - whom we have already contacted, - will do something about this - so small businesses like ours are not affected by fake reviews like this. Posting such pictures doesn't mean that actually happened at our hotel and could be an attempt to defame our reputation.

We would like to inform everybody that our hotel has an extremely well structured extermination policy and in the unfortunate event of such a problem ever occurring - we would be the most pro active in dealing with this situation.

Thank You

This hotel was located just around the corner from the subway (5-10 minutes from Manhattan), and offered free on-street parking. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and gave us directions for going to places we wanted to visit on Long Island Our room was small, but adequate for a family of 4. We appreciated the free breakfast, which offered 2 types of waffles, sausage patties, egg patties, toast, croissants, pastries, cereal, yogurt, juice, milk, and coffee. It had a very small eating area, with 4 tables (4 seats each), but we found that if we arrived before 8AM, it generally wasn't a problem. If the tables were full, we brought our food to the couch or chairs just down the nearby stairs, or waited 5 minutes, and then a table would open up. The hostess for the breakfast area worked extremely hard to keep the area supplied. The area around the hotel offered a 24-hour small grocery store and a couple of restaurants. It was very safe coming back late at night. The entire area is a construction zone, so don't expect a good view from your room. Construction started at least by 8AM (not on Sunday) and sometimes as early as 7:15AM. We stayed at this hotel for 17 days and would definitely love to come back.

Room Tip: A higher floor offered a better view of Manhattan.

The main advantage of this hotel is its fantastic location with respect to subways. It is very close to the Queensboro Plaza subway station (7, N, Q trains) and a short walk down Crescent Street will take you to the Court Square station (7, E, M, G trains). It is a short subway ride to Grand Central, Times Square, and this combination of trains goes to many parts of the city, with simple public transportation connections to LaGuardia and JFK. It has included in-room WiFi (decent speed) and continental breakfast. My bed was comfortable and I slept well. I didn't interact much with the staff, but they were helpful and friendly.

However, here are some things you need to know. The hotel has a miniaturized feel to it. I had a room with two beds, and there was not much room for much else. The lobby is small, and the breakfast area is cramped with limited seating. My room was just off the breakfast area, so I grabbed my food and took it back to my room. Do not come with a car. Street parking, especially during the day, is nonexistent. The area is mostly commercial with a lot of taxicabs (there is a taxi depot nearby) taking up the parking. If you have to bring a car, you might find a space in the evening when there are fewer taxis around and businesses are closed. I did discover a parking garage nearby - I was told a rate of $17 per day for my small car (ended up parking my car in a different part of the city). The area is being built up with high rises, so there is a lot of construction all around the hotel. During the weekday, starting at 9 am, don't expect to sleep in because of the noise, and I'm talking jackhammering. There are some restaurants nearby, but not many, and I didn't use them.

The breakfast is very basic. Cereal boxes, sausage patty, egg patty - precooked stuff that is heated and set out on the counter are the main items. Waffle machine was popular. I'm personally not a fan of this kind of food, but the coffee from the machine was at least quick.

I'm giving this hotel a 4/5 rating primarily because it served my two main needs: location and sleep. It is not too expensive for New York (it would not be a good value in a different location). I did not spend a lot of time in my room. I was up early and out of the room early most days. So for my purposes, it was fine.

The hotel has a very convenient location at long island, right 1 block away from metro, the price was reasonable for NY , however facilities were disappointing

Pros:
Location
Cost
next to subway

Cons:
Bathtube has fungus
NO parking
breakfast area was really small, at 8.00 am you will be lucky if you find a spot
it is not a quiet hotel, you can listen the subway

Room Tip: Use subway to go to Manhatan, it is 6 stations away from the hotel

A quiet place, courteous personnel, rich Breakfast. Though a couple of constructions on-going around the facility, it's generally a good place for those who may have business meetings around Manhattan and environs.
