Seems like a new hotel. Small but efficient. Shuttle service is a winner. No breakfast is served. Good value for money, specially during high season in New York.

Stayed here a while ago (October 2012) but only just got on board with tripadvisor. This hotel made such an impression I had to write a review.

Anyway - holidayed in the US for a few weeks with a couple of mates for a end of university East Coast trip. Wyndham was the first US hotel we stayed in and turned out to be the best.

The rooms were AMAZING (especially for the price!); clean, well appointed and very practical.

Location was likewise handy - I mean, this probably sounds fairly common in NYC but for those who have never been there (particularly international) $25 cab fare into Manhattan meant that we caught cabs everywhere! Cheap as chips and very close to everything. Hire cars can be organised and are very efficient from the hotel and they even have a courtesy bus to the subway.

This brings me on to the staff - fantastic, particularly if you have the good fortune to run into Dante - many a night we returned less than sober and were always greeted with genuine happiness! Overall the staff were awesome and helped with any problems or directions or recommendations on where to go/what to do.

I would suggest anybody going to NYC should stay here.

I just stayed one night at this Wyndham on a business trip to Long Island City. Overall an "Average" rating, but the hotel certainly was above average in several areas and below in others as noted below:

Pros:
-Very friendly and helpful staff
-Extremely clean rooms
-HVAC system worked fine
-Decent Free wireless internet with no problems logging onto
-Great shuttle service and new shuttle bus

Cons:
-Lousy industrial neighborhood with nothing of interest or use around it
-Rooms bit on the small side for something outside Manhattan
-Direct TV rather than cable tv and was slow to change and use
-No toilet paper in room upon check in - Attention to detail here questionable
-No breakfast in hotel for the morning

I might find myself here again as our company has a contract with this hotel and several others in Long Island City - but since I get to choose (upon availability) there are others better located and equally overall as good. That said I wouldn't avoid this hotel, rather for my business here I'd check my choices.

We apologize about the lack of TP, that is odd and please note that is not standard.

Our neighborhood is actually quite active with a beautiful water front park with great Manhattan Skyline View, an abundance of restaurants and bars as well all with-in a few block walk of the hotel. Very safe and great mixed use "Real NYC" neighborhood!

The restaurant is now serving a grab and go breakfast.

The hotel is fairly new and we found it to be excellent for our needs. We were booked in as 'room only' and had requested a quiet room too, which it was. We had not booked a room with a view, so although ours was not bad, there are probably excellent views from the other rooms. It was also very clean and well equipped, it also had tea/coffee making facilities (no milk though), although this wasn't a problem to us. There was a powerful shower which sometimes did take a while for the hot water to come through but once it did, it was absolutely fine.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and informative and were able to assist and answer any questions that we had. They have a shuttle bus which is free of charge and is very helpful for transport and shopping.
The only negative we would have is that they have an Italian restaurant housed within the hotel which you pay separately for, when we ate there we had to ask for the air conditioning to be turned down as it was extremely cold and the meal was huge and not the best Italian we've ever had and the red wine was not only expensive but quite awful. Hence we only ate there one night but there are some lovely restaurants nearby which are great and plenty of choice with regard different types of food.
It is a short walk to the water ferry across to Manhattan which only costs 4 dollars each trip but is well worth it.
Staying on Long Island means that you are in a quieter part of New York but the main areas are easily accessible by various modes of transport. There is a large area along the river bank which overlooks Manhattan which is still being developed but is already really beautiful with hammocks, seating, picnic areas etc. which is well worth a visit.
All in all it was an excellent stay and we would recommend it to anyone.
