I used my priority club points for this hotel stay (3 nights, July 31st to August 2, 2004). The major problem with this hotel is that NOT ONE CAB DRIVER KNEW HOW TO GET THERE!!! From LaGuardia the Holiday Inn website states the cab ride is $15. Maybe that's true if any cab knows where they're going--but 7 of our cab drivers DIDN'T. And--as expressed in a previous review, when the hotel calls a cab for you, it's a "limo" service and they don't tell you that. The cost to get into midtown Manhattan was a flat rate of $30 PLUS the $4 Midtown Tunnel Toll Soooo, with tip, it came to about $40! The cost back to LaGuardia using the "limo" service was a flat rate of $20 plus tip. I don't know of any cabs that you can call yourself but if you can--DO!!! Cabs back from the city (yellow cabs) were about $16 plus the $4 toll though it's probably much less if the cab driver has a clue where he's going (we paid $47 one night because our driver go SO lost). Also, while the room was clean and good sized, I almost broke my back when sitting in one of the chairs as the cushion had no base or springs to it and I fell right through it!!! The noise of the Long-Island Expressway is non-stop so if you're a light sleeper then you may have problems. The subway is NOT only 4 blocks away but rather 7 (we walked it OFTEN after that "limo" ride) and in the summertime, it's VERY HOT!!! Also, if you plan on hanging out in Manhattan after 11:00pm, you can't get the subway back to the hotel as it stops running. Even though I used points to stay at this hotel, I honestly believe that we spent close to $300 just on cab fares alone (2 trips in and 2 trips back daily--even using the subway in 3 times). The rates here are about $100-$150. If you can afford $160-$230 then I'd look for a hotel in the city assuming you're planning on spending a good amount of time in Manhattan. There is NOTHING to do near this hotel though many pizza and oriental restaurants will deliver to the room.
