Located in Long Island City, just across the East River from Manhattan. The area is a little "seedy" (to say the least) but the hotel shines like a diamond in the worn area. First of all, the reception staff are absolutely amazing. So nice and serviceminded.
The rooms are far better than what you get for the same price in manhattan. The beds are very comfortable and all rooms have a view against the Manhattan skyline. Unfortunately the windows where really dirty, please cleen them!
Housekeeping had also been able to be a little better, because the interior is black so visible light dust, and the AC was dirty.
The shower is large but needed to be scrubbed., Shampoo and other products are included, and they were great things. The sink sitting out of the room and not inside the bathroom. Toilet door is only in frosted glass and will not lock, hear well through which can be good to know.
The breakfast was okay, bagels and assorted breads, yogurt, etc.. Unfortunately it was the same selection every day. If you go there for a week so if you get tired fast. Please, change the flavor of the yogurt and sometimes have slightly different breads. Would also be nice with some other toppings than just jam and maybe some fruit??. It probably depends on what you're used to eating, but it was not feeling so healthy!
Free shuttle bus every hour to drop you off at Bloomingdales. If the bus is full they will arrange quickly an extra taxis for those who did not fit. If it no traffic it takes 10min otherwise it can take up to 30min to get there.
You can also take the metro from the Queensboro Plaza, but it takes about 10-15 minutes to walk there and the area feels NOT secure. Met people who looked really wierd.
You can rent bicycles at the hotel and I would certainly recommend to cycle down to LIC Landing at Hunters Point and sit there and take something and drink and watch the sunset over Manhattan. Lovely place. Be careful when you ride there.
Local place John "somethin" Smokehouse just a block down from the hotel had great food!
We lived on the 3rd floor and heard almost none of the parties in the rooftop bar on the weekends.
Free Wifi and safteybox! Awesome"
To the hotel:
Try to keep the rooms in top condition and do not let them go down, fix abraded paint etc directly.
Vary the breakfast and try to make it a little healthier and more fun.
Put out some plant or other in the hallways. They look really boring.
Never stop beeing so kind and servideminded as you are, you are really amazing. Made everyone feel welcome!
