“Thank you!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

September 2013 was our second stay at Hotel Vetiver and we are glad we returned.

The staff are always welcoming and friendly. Eslainy was esecially attentive when we didn't check out on the correct day! She manged to track us down at my parents.

The rooms are clean, comfortable and the balcony's are always a plus.

Thank you very much to all the staff at Hotel Vetiver.

We would recommend this hotel without hesitation. Book ahead because this is going to be a popular spot for anyone wanting a great deal not far from the city of Manhattan. Excellent service, good breakfast, well-equipped, clean, great location. Once you master the subway - get a weekly ticket - you can go anyway from here very cheaply, and eating out and shopping is either a short trip, or walk away.

Room Tip: Rooms near the top are quieter and have a fantastic views, but the internet is not very reliable, so...

This is a great hotel in many ways, I stayd here for 10 nights and it really got over my expectations from a hotel in new york in this price - very good price.
The room is very beautiful and equipped with many good things, there is a fridge that I didn't even knew I shoud get when I ordered the room on the net.
The hotel is very close to the subway station, and yellow N/R lines will take straight to there.

There in no tub but there is a great broad shower, on the three first days of my staying there, there were no hot water and it was very bad but I managed somehow.

The breakfeast is very good there, there are 3 kinds of bagles, cereals and milk, coffee and tea, corasente and yogurt and orange juice every day. Sufficiant and Great breakfeast.

The Wifi was sometimes problematic and worked only close to the room door.

The elevator was very slow, many times I preferred the stairs, although staying on the 8th floor.

Very friendly staf at the reception, and breakfeast room.

Room Tip: ask for a high floor room, is so very quient more than the lower ones

We stayed for a week in september. On the hotell webside they marked them selves on having a manhattan skyline view. We got a room in the first floor, and the view; I big tree and the backyard. We were also promised a balcony, which we did not get as we did not spend much time in the hotel of was not a big deal, but in the end it affects the overall impression. Seems like a bit of fals advertising to us.

The room was clean, with nice space. The bathroom was ok, but smelled strangely of potatoes?!

The hotel is right by the subway (line N and Q) which was really nice. No problems with the noise from the trains.
What we did have a problem with was the noise from the reseption area. The door are very thin, and the staff and other guest talking and slamming doors were a bit distracting.

Breakfast ok, but serves the same thing every day, 7 days a week.

Overall we had an ok stay. Liked the clean room, but nothing special. If you like a ok hotel by the subway, 15 min from Times Square its a reasonably priced alternative.

First things first... Have the people who say this hotel isn't safe ever visited Mid Craigie or Stobie? You've got more chance getting a dab in the puss on a Saturday tea time than even a hint of bother in Long Island City. I felt more unsafe walking around Times Square with all the total gadgies dressed up like spider man with some white wool he/she had nicked out his mums knitting basket and sown on his outfit and making noises like a tin of Asda smart price hair spray (I can only assume this was to replicate the noise of his spidey webs).

My partner and I loved the hotel. If we ever go back to New York we will most definitely be coming back to Hotel Vetiver. We liked everything about the hotel, especially the location. It was right in the middle of a quiet neighbour hood with plenty grocery store or takeaways if you hadn't been fed by one of the 265 TGI Fridays or 7,459 Hardrock Cafes in Manhattan. There is a subway station literally a baw hair away from the hotel which takes you to any of the main attractions, or at least within short walking distance.

All the staff at the hotel were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Even after my partner and I had been out on the lash in Brooklyn and ended up simultaneously ralphing down the lavvy and somehow wedged a tooth brush up in the drainage system. I reported that the flusher wasnt working properly to the girl on the front desk. She sent someone round to fix it but found it funny and retrieved it for us. I cleaned my teeth right away - as good as new.

Overall, this is a great hotel, with great staff, great location and would recommend to anyone to pay it a visit.

Room Tip: Pay for Manhattan skyline
