“Outstanding service & great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

I am currently staying here as an extended stay guest. This hotel is truly
a gem. The service is outstanding and the value is excellent. The hotel
is clean and the location cannot be beat. You are one stop to mid-town
Manhattan and there are lots of local eateries and grocery stores nearby
as well. Brittney, the Sales Manager is a sweetheart and I couldn't
be happier with my choice to stay here.

Hi Ben,

Thank you for taking some time to review us on TripAdvisor! It is always a pleasure to have guests who allow us make Hotel Vetiver a home away from home. We are so happy that out of all the places you could have stayed you decided to give us a try. Thank you for mentioning all of the local eateries in the area that many of our guests are not aware of. Astoria and Long Island City have so much to offer in terms of unique and tasty ethnic food choices. We love having you here and thank you again for sharing your experience with us on TripAdvisor.

Kind Regards,
Brittney Mosley

I recommend tourists to stay at Manhattan. The location sucks. I met 2 homeless people who ask for money, and they were pretty intimidating. Also, it is kinda scary at night. There's no good restaurants near. I would not recommend this place to friends. I was in this hotel to celebrate my birthday with my bf, because I booked the restaurant in Astoria. The hotel was pretty romantic. Very quiet, and different atmosphere.. It is a new hotel, and good for couples. However, I do not recommend this place to tourists.

Dear Guest;
Thank you for posting your review at TripAdvisor .
Long Island City is located just 10 minute train ride from Times Square. Our Proximity to Manhattan is what attracts guests from all over the world, primarily tourists. One of our strongest plus is the convenience of our location. Unfortunately there is no way that we can control our surroundings like finding a homeless person on the street. I personally commute at night time from the Hotel and I have to say that I have never felt that it is scary at all. Just 3 blocks away (1 stop on the train) from us you would find 36 avenue, a long avenue full of dining options, Further down you would find Broadway ( 2stops away by train) where there are even more options and several choices for nightlife if you decided to stay in queens. Thank you for highlighting the uniqueness of our rooms and we invite you to stay with us again!

We invite guests from all over the world to try the Hotel Vetiver experience , where we treat our guests like family.

Warm Regards;

Eslainy Fernandez

We had great stay at this hotel. I booked with bookit.com and i realized that the price is more expensive than if i booked directly with them as i can see on the Vetiver's invoice that we received. In overall is good. The hotel is near the subway it is a quick walk away. The area around the hotel may look unsafe but it isn't. On our arrival we had been welcoming by the Bellboy's Chad he is very kind and Helpfull. The wifi and breakfast is includ.

The room is very clean except the corridors and elevator need to improve and to be clean. The A/C is noysi during the night. In the room we have a safe but it is not so effective because is not screw in the cabinet, someone could go with the box. There was a small kitchenette in my room and that gives you the option of keep some food for lunch or something to save some money, we had a continal breakfast everyday...bagel, cereal, yogurt, milk, cofffee, tea, juice, croissant, jam, some fruits, cheese creame.

For the quality/value, it is really good choice for travelling with kids.

Room Tip: Ask the room in 5th floor,and up to have great view

Pros:
Helpfull and friendly staff, very close to subway and whole Manhattan, budget friendly, clean room

Cons: little bit noisy air condition, ability to hear subway through AC in night, kind of scary in late night (not hotel's fault, overall safe place), elevator and corridors not so clean, every day same breakfast (even fresh ham/cheese would be nice)

Overall: Good place to stay visiting NYC & Manhatton, 1st time in USA, overall enjoyed

Room Tip: It's said higher the room is, better view you have, had room in 5th floor, nice view

We had a great stay at the Hotel Vetiver (we pronounced it Veti-vay so as to seem fancy). For a New York hotel, it was very inexpensive, the wi-fi was reliable and fast, the breakfast was plentiful and included with the room, the rooms clean, modern and secure. The hotel is very close to the subway and it is a quick ride into Manhattan. We didn't encounter any problems (although the elevator is a bit slow but you just have to be patient) and would recommend it to others.

We didn't mind the lack of an in-hotel restaurant. There's a place called "Michaels Café" in the Sheraton just up the road that does a nice dinner, and an amazing sushi restaurant near the Subway entrance called Tokyo Sushi Bar. For a free breakfast, we were pleased with what the Hotel offered. If you want the best selection, go earlier in the morning - fresh bagels (the best I've ever had), yogurts, cereals, fruit and pastries. Sit outside for the best experience. Great way to start a big day of walking around NYC!

Room Tip: Note your preference for a view of the Manhattan skyline when making the booking. We asked when chec...

Hotel was very well located for the subway into manhattan 15-20 mins will get you where you need to be. Hotel itself was very clean and well kept, However having booked a balcony room we were given a room with no balcony with the proviso we could move 1 or 2 days later when one came available. We declined as we did not want this hassle. Then when we returned to the Uk the hotel had charged us another 1000+ dollars which was promptly refunded- Good Customer service, Overall hotel was excellent and I would recommend it, However we felt slightly let down we did nto get the room we requested.
