great hotel! very unique! close proximity to manhattan. I came from London with my husband and four children. The hotel staff were very welcoming. My children are under 12 and loved playing in the courtyard outside! we all enjoyed the complementary breakfast!!!!!!
amazing hotel and we will be coming back for a couples vacation next summer!!!!

The location of this hotel is a key selling point. You can get a lovely stay close to Manhattan for a much lower price that you would pay if you stayed central. The subway station '39th' takes a minute walk to get to and the journey takes 10 minutes to get into Manhattan costing $2.50 for a single ride which entitles you to ride the subway to any of the stopping points on the route.

The hotel its self has recently opened and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Its clean and the rooms are decorated to a high standard. Due to the nature of New York there is street noise, which becomes less noticeable after a few nights.

Overall this is a great hotel and I would recommend to anyone. I plan to stay at this hotel when visiting New York again.

Me and my 2 Girl friends stayed here 23-31st May for my 40th Birthday Celebrations and had a great stay in general. The Room was huge with super comfy beds and large bathroom. The whole apt was super clean on arrival and we had fresh linen and towels every day altho the maid service was very questionable on most days.. Sand left on the floor for a whole week, pubic hair on my fresh linen and no dusting and banana skins left in the bin at the side of my bed.We weren't told about an ice machine or complimentary breakfast until the day before our departure and most disappointingly wasn't told about the massage service either.Staff were friendly and helpful and provided us with hanging rail and iron upon request but the cleaning issues and lack of information on services let it down greatly altho the Hotel is working hard on any issues.
2 mins from the subway and very easy access on the N or Q line train into NY.

We stayed at that hotel 7 days and we were really pleased with that hotel.
+ The room and the bathroom were absolutely clean.
+ The bed was really comfortable
+ Breakfast was included which is not common in NY hotels
+ The staff were friendly (especially the woman at the breakfast room).
+ Free WiFi.
+ Very close to subway station (circa 75m) and Manhattan (3 stations from Central Park and 5th Avenue). Moreover there are other subway stations very close to the hotel (750 m) for the other lines.
+ Cheaper than the hotels in Manhattan
+ Safe neighborhood

Hotel: few services (e.g. food and drink) but given location (large city with nearby shops) this isn't a problem.

Rooms: Large; very comfortable bed; excellent shower; clean; hotel has portable wardrobes available if you require somewhere to hang clothes; some traffic noise but that is to be expected in a city.

Location: Excellent - 2 minutes walk from subway stop and then 10 minutes from the centre of Manhattan, service was regular and ran late into the night; handy local shop and diner on same street for water, snacks etc; bars and restaurants on Vernon Boulevard are a handy alternative to heading into Manhattan in the evening.

Value for money: At around £100 per room per night (half the price of comparable hotels on Manhattan) we would highly recommend this hotel and would happily return in the future.

We stayed at the Hotel Vetiver the weekend of May 19th and the good points are its great location near the subway, very comfortable queen sized beds and reasonable price in comparison with other hotels. The room was very clean and housekeeping did a good job.

The not-so-good: we arrived late in the afternoon and found not 1 but 2 staff members behind the counter who barely acknowledged we were there as they counted out the cash drawer. One lady finally helped us but couldn't seem to find some paperwork that was (I assume) our reservation. She did not say what she was doing, but kept looking for the paper and then looked on the computer to print it again.
When checking the printout we noticed that it showed only one price for 2 nights, but our reservation confirmation from the hotel listed one price for Saturday and a lower price for Sunday. We had to show the clerk our email confirmation, which she made a copy of; don't they have the original email? Her lack of overall conversation with us was frustrating and not very welcoming.
Our room keys worked the first day but when we returned the second day they did not, the clerk didn't believe all 3 keys didn’t work and that somehow we had de-magnetized them - really?!? How about graciously apologizing for the inconvenience and giving us working keys?
There is only one very slow elevator so the stairs are often a better, more reliable choice.
We had read that the rooms didn't necessarily have fridges or microwaves, but there are no vending machines anywhere in the building to get bottled water or soda and no ice machines.

In our 2-bed room, there were no closets, no ironing board and limited drawer space.

Average overall but could be made much better by a more helpful, courteous staff.

Hello, I'm very happy to hear the upside of your stay but deeply apologize for the inconvenience that some of our staff members could have caused. Hotel Vetiver has been open for only six months we are under going training of new hires to the Hotel Vetiver standards and expectations we that would like our guest to have during their stay. When you checked in a training session was being preformed but it should not have prevented your immediate acknowledgement. I am personally making sure that a situation of this kind never happens again.

We do have an ice machine near our event space and some of our rooms such as the one you stayed in the fridges and microwaves are delivered upon request all of our other rooms come equipped.

Hopefully you can return to Hotel Vetiver and take advantage of a discounted room so we can do things right this time around.

Regards,

Daniel
