Loved the hotel, it's clean, staff were courteous, good breakfast. The area didn't bother me much since I am from NYC. It's not a run down area. People have to understand that LIC was and still is a industrial location. The F train is in walking distance which is a big plus. I had a great view facing Manhattan and the Queens borough Bridge.

After seeing several negative reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleased with our stay. The staff was absolutely the best - very friendly & helpful. Although they could not seem to understand that we wanted 'wash cloths' instead of 'hand towels', the front desk was always good in filling our request. The breakfast was adequate & the ladies were continually refilling the items - and, were very friendly! There was only 1 day we could not find seating but they had an extended seating area that had been adequate other than that day (I think we just happened to get there when so many others were there). Overall, the room was clean & they did a good job of taking care of all needs. The subway was only about 1 1/2 blocks away & even though it is in a somewhat run-down location, it was acceptable vs. the cost of staying in the heart of Manhattan (although, the subway could be terribly crowded it was worth the difference in price).

Compared to staying in Manhattan, our stay at the Sleep Inn LIC is a good value for the price. Great for schlepping to midtown on the F train, only a few stops. Area may look a bit sketchy, but it's fine. Room is a nice size, clean and modern, you may have a view of Manhattan if you request it. Breakfast included was a big hit, crowded. It's just enough to get you started off on your day out in the city. Parking is available $25 or $50 a day, I was given both these prices from different sources. Otherwise parking is free on the street on Sat & Sun. The staff are really helpful and friendly, appreciate that.

I read all the reviews on here first so everything was pretty much as expected. The hotel is not in a great area, but there were plenty of people walking to and from the station at the same time as me so I didn't feel unsafe. I was alone and if you were with someone anyway then it would be fine I think. It's literally 2-3 mins from the subway which is great and trains run 24/7. Only 15 mins to Times Square.

The hotel room itself was very good. Safe was broken when I arrived but was replaced immediately and staff very helpful. The room was clean and well kept and had a great view of the city. Room was cleaned every day and there is coffee in the rooms. Free wifi worked perfectly during my stay and was free, this is a definite bonus!

The hotel is fine, nothing fancy but has all the basics. The breakfast was ok, there was enough food and enough variety of it. The staff were helpful. I also noticed some other reviews saying there wasn't enough room in the breakfast room but noticed there is now an 'overspill' breakfast room which I assume is in response to this.

Overall, if you want to stay somewhere that's in a convenient location but not the sky high prices of Manhattan I would definitely recommend the hotel. The only other thing is that if you want to buy anything, either from a convenience store, or go out for a meal there is really nothing in the area at all so make sure you eat and buy anything you need in Manhattan.

Hotel gets 4 stars as it's everything it says it is, but not 5 due to the area, which was particularly important to me when traveling alone.

Room Tip: Room 709 had a good city view

The hotel is in a somewhat run down part of Queens, but it has great access to the subway and is only 15 minutes to central Manhattan. The staff at the hotel were pleasant and the check-in and check-out process was smooth. Breakfast was quite mediocre. It felt like cheap food that was therefore free. The room had a very unpleasant smell. When we first checked in it smelled like it had been Fabreezed. But by the evening that was gone and an ammonia like smell remained. But the beds were fine. Bathroom was very small but adequate.
I would not stay here again.

Very nice room for the price. Not so sure about the location wasn't threre long enough. Felt pretty safe. Checkig in was very, very easy. Lady at front desk seemed really nice. Had a little problem getting the shower to work, called front desk and someone was there in less than 5 minutes. Overall we were very satisfied with everything.

I had to move hotels from the Intercontinental Barclay on 48th St between Park and Lex, due to it closing down for a year for major renovations. I needed a hotel for the next few days and thought this one was convenient with Subway "F" to Grand Central, but the neighbourhood was a surprise.
If you want a bed and you spend all your time in Manhattan from 9am to 7pm, then this hotel is great.

However the hotel sits on a street with warehouses, chop shops, carwash, industrial dry cleaners, as well as welfare housing. There is nothing to do at night time and one feels uncomfortable in this neighbourhood. It seems dodgy as an area, especially after dark.

I felt unsafe in a nutshell and checked out early and went back to Manhattan.

I implore all frequent travellers to read trip advisor on hotels. I didn't do this and made the mistake.

Good low cost hotel, clean, furnishings new, staff polite, courteous, hotel is in location probably 10 to 20 years too early. Hopefully in next 10-20 years the area will be rezoned and retail / restaurants will start to pop up.

Room Tip: higher up floors, better views of Manhattan
