The neighborhood can be a downer, but when you get over that, prepare yourself for a comfortable stay, with a very good price/quality ratio.
Subway is just around the corner and Manhattan awesome!
Don't forget to check out the rooftop of the hotel. The view over Manhattan is really breathtaking!

If you want to sleep well after a rough day, it's the best hotel for you. And it's reasonably clean!The location is just not really safe. But it's near the subway. And I didn't really appreciate when the elevator doesn't work.

As I state in my title, I didn't even stay here. I had made a reservation to this property and upon arrival, the staff insisted that I give them my identifcation as well as my credit card for payment so that they may make xerographic copies of them. I flatly refused since no other chain ever requires this. After being a victim of Identity Theft, I'm very wary of these types of requests.

Normally when staying at other chains/properties, when asked for identification I show it and then it's a done deal. When I protested here, the front desk clerk said it was the policy of the hotel to make copies of the ID & CC since they had some "no-pays" in the past....when I persisted, they pulled out that 9-11 excuse of "security measures."

When all was said and done, they did honour my request for a cancellation without penalty. They were kind enough to let me use their internet station to book a reservation in the heart of New York at a much better property in a much better location (this HoJo is in the 'hood folks...across the street from the projects and the bus stop for Riker's Island jail.) for just a little more.

Avoid this place unless you want a super-special deal in a dodgy neighbourhood. I suggest spending a little more for something nicer in a better location.

I really enjoyed this hotel and service. Everyone was helpful and was very polite. Abby and Steve (very cute) were very polite and accommodated every request. Ask for the 10th story view it is great! The breakfast is great if your on the go and the location is close to the 21 st Queensburo subway. They are also renovating the location.
