“Best deal I could find in NYC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2010

The hotel is very new and was in excellent condition. It was much cheaper than any other hotels I could find in or close to NYC of comparable quality. The hotel had free parking which was a great plus since I needed somewhere to park while staying there. The rooms were small but comfortable. The free breakfast was adequate, nothing fancy. The hotel is one block away from a subway station so it's only a few minutes to get into the city. The only thing I was worried about was the location since some other reviews stated it was in a bad neighborhood. The hotel is close to a public housing project which you have to walk past to get to the subway. However I never felt unsafe or in danger at anytime. The few people that I did encounter in the area were friendly. Overall this is a great hotel if you are looking to visit NYC and not spend your whole budget on a hotel. If I go back to NYC anytime soon I will be staying here again.

I took a friend to celebrate his birthday in NYC. I figured it would be great if we went out to eat at Negril Restaurant ( a verrryyy good restaurant in lower Manhattan) and to there Rhum lounge. So i wanted to book a hotel in NYC but as many would know there prices were extremely expensive. So as i researched i came across the BestWestern Plaza Hotel in long Island City which was running for $80 per night (now that's a steal). I read some previous reviews on it and made the choice to stay in this hotel. I would love to thank those that said this hotel was very nice because it really really is. For a bestwestern i was not expecting anything that i got. The rooms are a nice size and beautifully decorated. The beds are comfortable. The rooms are extremely clean. I requested to have a high room with a view of the Manhattan Skyline and i got just that. The rooms to be were decorated just nice or even better than some of the NYC hotels. The front desk was extremely helpful with giving us directions to the restaurant. Also another plus is that the hotel is located about 5 mins from the Queensboro bridge that will drop you right off into Manhattan so you that you don't have to pay that toll price. Overall my friend had a amazing time for his birthday and was very satisfied with the choice of hotel and so was I.

Well, I´ve stayed at this hotel with my wife from december 30th to January 10th (2010), and I recommend to everyone who doesn´t want to spend a LOT of money staying in Manhattan. The employes are very attentious, the hotel is very clean and the rooms are big.

The only bad point is the neighborhood, let´s say it´s not a wealthy one, not good for walking at late night, but´s OK to walk from the hotel to the subway. (1 1/2 blocks)

The station is on the F line, only four stops from Rockefeller center, Times Square, etc, so it´s not far away for tourists like me.

The breakfast can be considered as an OK one, not a lot of options, but it´s very nice since it´s included on the price.

The free wireless connection work ok also.

I would definately stay there again.

Sorry about my bad English.

The room was very comfortable and clean, we had an upper room with beautiful view of the Manhattan and Queens-bridge, the staff were friendly and helpful with local information, plus was the free parking, breakfast and High Speed WiFi access in the entire Hotel, also you can use for free the computers and printer in business center located in 1 floor.
Subway station 21st queens bridge F is on the same street at end of the block and only 3 stops to upper Manhattan which is great when you consider how much money you can save compared to fancy hotels in Manhattan.
- The breakfast space is too small for the hotel and is too crowded after 9am.

for little over 100 USD you can have a more than decent room 15mn away from Manhattan. the area is maybe not the best but the subway is very conveniently located 1 bloc from the hotel, i took it at all times of day and night and it was perfectly fine. staff is very helpful, there is free internet in the rooms and there are 4 computers down in the ''business center". breakfast is not the best but included in the price. i checked other hotels and i could not find anything below 200 usd for the same service. it also gave ;e the opportunity to visit queens and Astoria, a very new Yorker experience for sure, much more authentic than Manhattan and the hordes of tourists. i would recommend it for sure.

We stayed here for five nights in Sept, shortly after it opened. It was far cheaper than any hotel on Manhattan, and is very conveniently located a couple of hundred yards from the subway (however as mentioned this walk is past government supported housing, although due to the sheer volume of people about I felt quite safe). Although off Manhattan we had a metrocard anyway, so it only added a few minutes journey time to the sights of New York

The hotel room is the same as any best western, although as its brand new things are still gleaming. Breakfast consisted of cereal, toast, bagels, donuts etc and was ample. Internet access was provided, and there was a decent gym for that standard of hotel.

There is a convenience store between the hotel and subway which was useful for buying drinks/snacks en route to/from the hotel.

I'd recommend this if you want to pay far less than Manhattan prices, it is clean and looked after, and would stay here again.
