The hotel gives you fair warning on its website that its free parking is limited. However, priceline, hotels.com and other 3rd party providers just list this hotel as having free parking. There is on-street parking, but the area is a bit sketchy. My advise is to get to the hotel early for the free parking. If you miss out, as I did for one night, you may feel uncomfortable about the area or street cleaning that may happen the next morning (which the hotel warns you in writing at the desk). Another plus, was that they let me keep my car there until 7pm or so the day we checked out so we could continute to explore the city.

Rooms are small, but the beds are comfortable and furniture and TV are updated. The websites state there is free continental breakfast, which I always assume is very basic (like no eggs or other items that need cooking). This hotel provides scrambled eggs, pancakes along with yogurt, cereal, begals, toast, donuts, etc.

The hotel is a 2 minute walk to the Metro. As with the parking, the area can be sketchy, so if you are from a small town or not used to big city living (where there can be bad areas), this may be of some concern to you. We paid about $100/night with free parking. I really was just looking for a deal close to the city to take trips to Manhattan (about 15mins subway ride) for sight seeing with my family (2 girls, 8 and 12). In all, with the cost, free parking, free internet and free breakfast. An incredible deal after taking all of the above into account.

Not al is about budget; you have to be safe.
If you want to choose a hotel, please skip this one. It is located in a very bad area; it very dangerous at night. The rooms are very small, clean.
Being a tourist in NYC you want to be in a safe area and this hotel is not truthful about location.

LIMITED free parking -- after 4 or 5pm don't expect to get any and you have to hunt for parking on the shady streets.
Hotel was ok/clean. Extended stay by 1 night but received frantic calls during my business meeting the next day wondering why my stuff was still in my room. I guess the evening front desk failed majorly in that department even though he had told me I was all set, and he was really not helpful at all with any of the other inquiries I had.
Only 1 username/password for the wireless Internet for the entire hotel means you may be prevented from logging in once too many people are using their Internet devices. I couldn't log in until 1am and unfortunately I had actual business work to do, not just for fun. 1 of the 3 computers in the business center was broken and the other 2 were occupied. The Howard Johnson people next door have a separate wireless for each floor (as was picked up on by my laptop searching for wireless networks), so maybe take a hint from them.

the room was clean and very nice, the bed really comfortable, we were able to see the empire state building out of our window. but the room could be a little bigger. the hotel is a couple of meters away from the metro and within 2 stops you are in manhattan. the service as well as the roomservice was friendly and tried answering every question
