“Great location near the metro station and 2 stops away from Manhattan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2010

My boyfriend and I stayed there for 5 days. The hotel is new and nice. The neighborhood around wasn't so attractive, but it was very well lighted and 2 minutes walking distance from the metro station, which made it perfect for going in and out of the city. We were literally 2 metro stops away from Manhattan. We rented a city-view room, and the view of the new york city line was incredible. Ideal if you want comfort and location at an affordable price.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and enjoyed it . We had been on a 7 day cruise previously with Carnival and picked this hotel because of value in money and closeness
to Manhattan. If you have a car, there will be a problem with parking. Our transportation was cabs and the subway. The subway was 2-3 blocks away. This included a breakfast
each day of which seating was limited at times. The room was very clean and comfortable with a king size bed, refrigerator, and microwave. The surrounding area to get to the subway is safe but nothing exciting but a gas station next door that also has a convenience store. Our cost per night was $103.00 with our senior citizen discount, which was a great price compared to Manhattan.

If you are looking to save some money, be near the city in a clean and safe location on your trip to NYC this is your place. I just stayed with my family for 7 nights on a vacation trip.

Pros: location is near Queensboro Subway stop (2 blocks away) and from there you can get almost anywhere in the city. 10 min to Central Park and all central attractions.

The Hotel felt safe. Near to La Guardia Airport(15-20$ Taxi rate)

Free Wifi

Breakfast is good enough to start the day, but they could provide a little bit more variability in the food

You have a gas station next door with mini market,so it is good enough to pick things to go

Easy to get a cab cause the gas station is right there

Very clean

Cons:
The sofa bed is just IMPOSSIBLE to use, so if you are 4 try to get a 2 queen bed room, else what we did was to ask for to extra mattress and sleep in the floor. I did not mind but I know is not the best.

The walls are very thin, you can hear water running everytime the next room opens the faucet or shower

The front desk people is very variant, some of them are nice and others not at all

The breakfast room can be very small if hotel is full, sometimes you have to wait a while for a table

Almost no parking space, but no problems to leave car on the street at all

Recommendations: DO NOT request to the front desk to get you a cab, as they will call a company that charges between 5 to 10$ more than a yellow cab would charge

If you can ignore the Cons and use the hotel as a place to sleep in your trip, this is a good option. I would definitively go back

The hotel is just a short 5 min walk to the subway. About 10 min ride to Times Square. It is located in what looked like an industrial area of sorts. We paid $99 per night so it was good value with breakfast included. Get to the breakfast area early as there doesn't seem to be enough tables and chairs in the morning rush. There was cereal, waffles, toast, juice, tea and coffee etc ample for breakfast. You can sit in the dinning area and have a drink with friends or eat takeaway at other times of the day which we did. Also there is a ice machine here that works. The ice machine on our floor did not work.
The rooms were clean and comfortable (bed was fantastic) with flate screen TV.
The service from reception was very cool to say the least. I felt like I was imposing each time I asked a question. There may have been a language barrier and they seemed quite young.
There was one computer in the Lobby for general use. So good luck at getting on.
Next door to the hotel is a 24hr Service Station and Convenience store which was fantastic as you could get almost anything there milk, bread, cheese, fruit, meats and a hot soup if you wished.
Just past the Service Station there is a laundromat as well which was great.
This was a great hotel for value for money and I would stay here again.

We stayed for six nights in mid-September. Booked on the hotel's website and by using the "pay in advance and no cancellation" rate, it was only $83 per night, an incredible bargain given its location a block from 3 subway lines and one stop to Manhattan.

Not sure why some folks expressed concern about the area. It is somewhat "dead" except for a 24-hour gas station / convenience store next to the hotel, which is frequented by taxis. During the 6 nights, we often came back late (after 9 PM) and never saw any "suspicious" folks. With all the traffic at the gas station, I'd not be concerned about walking even if there were suspicious folks hanging around.

Yes, the breakfast room can get very hectic unless you're there by about 7:30. But, I was very impressed by how quickly the breakfast items were replaced. If they ran out of an item, it was usually replaced in about two minutes. I've never seen such fast service before! I would like to see a "carafe" option for the coffee, but the machine has the nice ability to brew that coffee as you like: mild, normal or strong, which I liked since I want my coffee strong.

The breakfast selection was very good. Not just the usual (cereals, waffles, bagels, etc) fare you find at other hotels. There were various types of doughnuts...a first. I also liked that the juice is not from a machine or watery but from a pitcher.

Had no issues with the room. I'm a light sleeper but since the hotel is not on a major thoroughfare, such as Queens Blvd., so I slept well.

There's a computer in the lobby with Internet access. Charge of $1 per page for printing. You can check in-online but wait to print the boarding pass at airport kiosk.

The hotel is on the subway line which connects to the M60 bus at Astoria. From there it is 15 minutes on the airport bus to LaGuardia. Since we had a 7-day unlimited subway/bus card, that's how we got to and from the airport. (We only bring one rolling carry-on each, so if you have more than that then you need a cab.)

I'll stay here on future trips.

We stayed in this hotel in September this year for 4 nights. The hotel itself is very nice and clean, the rooms spacious, beds comfy and ours had a lovely view of the city. We had breakfast included in our room rate, which saved us money on having to eat out (which is extortionate in NYC!) The breakfast room is quite small and can get very crowded. It offers cereal, eggs, a toaster to make your own toast, waffle maker to make your own waffles, fresh fruit, bagels and pastries, so a good choice. Coffee maker makes terrible coffee but great hot chocolate! :). We had to take ours back to our room a few times because all the tables were occupied, I think you have to get there early!. The staff are OK, we didnt really need to speak to them that much except for checking in and out, although they did try to overcharge me when we checked out (simple case of not being able to add up!)
The location is fine for the subway, which is a 5 minute walk from the hotel (2 stops to Manhattan), however the area surrounding hotel is very run down, although there are new apartment buildings popping up, so maybe they are trying to regenerate the area. There isnt much near the hotel apart from the subway, and a gas station next door, where you can buy drinks, snacks etc. and across the road, is a garage where they mend taxi cabs, so there are always taxi's nearby which is handy!
All in all this is a great value hotel, much cheaper than hotels in Manhattan, and if I was coming to NYC again, I would stay here, and I would recommend it
