“Decent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2014

My boyfriend and I stayed 3 nights. We arrived really late the first night. The front desk guy was friendly, and checked us in quickly. We had a rental car with us since we drove from Pittsburgh to Long Island, to then return the car at LaGuardia. Anyway, parking was a pain to find 2am. We had to park 3 or 4 blocks away from the hotel. Next day we returned the car to the airport. Anyway, our room was on the 2nd floor, right next to the elevator. It wasn't in the best spots, but at the same time perfect because I managed to sprain my knee while in NYC. The Queensboro Plaza was within 5 minutes of walking, and the subway got us to where we needed to be within 10 minutes. There was a Mobil next to the hotel, which was very nice because the hotel's vending machines didn't work.(Very aggravating...) The bathroom was clean, sheets were clean, the bed not so comfy, and the blankets were way too heavy for summer time. Even with us putting the a/c down to 68 degrees, I still managed to sweat to death. The room was very big though. And it was very pretty. I wish the curtains were a little more black out. We had a lot of light in the room, and we're night owls, so our sleep wasn't very much, and in the end, it was probably better this way. Housekeeping were polite, and they changed our sheets, towels, and trash everyday we stayed. We didn't wake up in time for breakfast. We're night owls.

We recommend this hotel. It was in a good price range, and it was in a good spot to hop on the subway. And, I do recommend that you buy the 7-day unlimited metrocard. We walked almost all of the first day, and that was indeed dumb on our part. We are home hurting now.

Room Tip: Make sure you don't get a room near the elevators.

We were lucky to get a room on the 9th floor (top floor not facing manhattan) and the room was quiet. Our room was a king with a sofa bed. If you want to sleep four adults this room is too small. My complaints about the room is the lack of lighting and A/C in the sofa bed room. We weren't next to the ice machine or elevator so that helped make a quiet room.

Breakfast is very crowded. Only one person refills the items, so things are always gone. It consisted of waffles, eggs, sausage, potatoes, donuts, oatmeal, toast, English muffins, cereal, and juice, hot chocolate, coffee, and bananas. The hot food is cold but there is a microwave that you can warm your food.

There is no parking at the hotel. The staff is not outwardly friendly but nice if you approach them.

We walked to the hotel at night and the streets were deserted. I'm not sure I'd want to walk by myself from the subway but with my family I felt safe. There are three subway lines close by.

The wifi is slow.

Room Tip: Higher floors to get away from busy street noise.

We stayed here 4 nights. The hotel is well situated, metro station at 5 min, and only 6 stops from Times Square. Complimentary breakfast was ok. Very friendly staff at reception. We had a king bed room for 3 people (1 adult and 2 children) but this is too small. I thought there would be a pull out sofa for the 3rd person, but this was not so. If more than 2 people, try to book twin bed room, although the reservation systems gives a king bed room. Hotel is great alternative for the expensive Manhattan hotels!

This hotel is very convenient to the subway system and for the price $160/night, this was an excellent value. Our family of 5 got one of the 2 room suites for a week long stay. We opened the sleeper couch, got an extra cot from the hotel and we also brought an extra air mattress so the 3 kids (14,12,12) each had their own bed. It was a little crowded, but other than sleeping we didn't spend too much time in the room. Check in was very good. We got in fairly early (11:45 AM) and were checked right in. Requested a room on a higher floor and got one one the 8th floor. The street noise was still a little bothersome as all the suite rooms are on that side of the hotel. Also the view from the suite rooms isn't anything to write home about. The continental breakfast wasn't great, but was very busy and free. The best part about this hotel was that it is less than 1/2 mile to 3 different subway stations that provide access to the (7,N,Q,F,E,M,R) lines. To get from the hotel to almost anywhere in Manhattan is less than 1/2 hour, 15 minutes to Times Square. I felt safe walking with my family to/from the stations. We even came back around midnight a couple of times. My main complaint was that the internet was almost unusable early in the morning during heavy usage. Luckily I can use my phone as a hotspot, so I was able to switch to this when I had to. But without this planning our days/getting show tickets might have been difficult. If you're looking for a 5 star hotel, stay somewhere else, but if you just need an affordable place to sleep and be your convenient base of operations for your stay in NY, then I highly recommend Country Inn and Suites in Queens.

This property does not represent the Country Inn & Suites name well at all. No parking. Front desk staff was nice but not overly helpful or friendly. Front and lobby and hallways were okay, but our room was VERY dirty! Carpet had multiple stains and looked like it had not been steam-cleaned for a very long time. We had to wear our shoes in the room otherwise the soles of our feet turned black. The window had "something" dripping down it in multiple places so no way it had been cleaned recently either. The breakfast sounded good at check-in but most times we went down all that was left was bagels & bread and the place was a mess, no place to sit to eat. Only two elevators which are shared with housekeepers and only one luggage rack for six floors so had to carry all our stuff multiple trips as it was rarely available. Our room faced the taxicab lot so couldn't sleep in since they beep constantly starting at 5 a.m. Where we are from $160 buys a very nice motel room so we were surprised! But since New York tried to understand that this was a cheap room compared to most, so maybe that is all we should expect. I had checked Trip Advisor after booking and it had 4 stars, no way! I say 2, very disappointing stay here couldn't wait to leave.

Room Tip: You don't want one in basement we heard another traveler complaining, and also not near the taxi...

Very clean, comfortable and reasonably priced hotel in a great location for the money. Subway less than 10 mins walk with direct line to Manhattan, again between 10/15 minutes away. Very safe area. Breakfast is included but not worth stopping for.

Stayed here 2 nights for the start of our USA trip. Our room was in the basement, which sounds ominous but was no problem. We had a twin bedded room, and beds were lovely and comfortable. Room was a good size along with the bathroom. Breakfast was good, and although the breakfast room is fairly small (we have had a lot smaller in similar sized hotels), we personally had no trouble finding a table on both mornings, and breakfast was more than we had expected so we were very happy.

Would happily return again on our next visit to New York.
