“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Stayed here for a few days as a birthday gift to myself. I ha a king size suite room all to myself :) the hotel was clean and the staff was pretty nice. I got a room with the street view although there wasn't much to see. The subway station is literally a block away and I felt safe being a woman alone. There is a convenience store next door to the hotel for snacks & drinks. I would stay here again.

The service is awful. The rooms are marginally clean and poorly and carelessly cleaned each day. The housekeeping staff isn't equipped with service carts, just trash cans on wheels. One day I watched them replace the towels in my room. They grab a handful and throw them on the floor of your room and then one by one select what they need and hang them in the bathroom. No wonder that many days my towels contained foreign debris and hairs that weren't mine! Some days you get your wake up calls, some days not. Some days the Internet works, some days not. The breakfast area is too small and it is not cleaned until the breakfast session is over so after three hours it's filthy.

Cheapest hotel we could find in NYC!€400 for the room for 5 nights I do believe!Room was very nice and comfortable.Bed was HUGE and had a big tv and mini fridge.Bathroom was very clean too.The hotel is right beside a 24hr gas station which was handy for light snacks etc. Stayed in one of the basement rooms so we didn't have a view, but the train station is a 5min walk away so it whisked us off into the city for sight seeing every day!I'd recommend getting a week long metro card (it saves you a fortune in the long run). Local area felt safe at night. Didn't manage to get up in time for breakfast either!(gotta love jetlag)

I stayed at the Country Inn and Suites this summer. Hotel prices were very high in Manhattan, and much more reasonable here (about half). The hotel offers good value. I had a King city view room. The room was clean, a decent size (I was solo) and had all the amenities I needed (minibar, free wifi). I was on the fifth floor, so the view of the Manhattan skyline was good, but some local rooftops did get in the way. Higher is probably better. Breakfast was an added bonus, but the breakfast room could have been kept neater and better organized. The location is convenient to Manhattan (one subway stop), but the experience is not the same as staying in Manhattan (at least for me). You always have to get on a subway to get anywhere, and you're staying in a building, not a neighborhood.

The surroundings were industrial. There were not many people walking around at night but I felt fairly safe, although not as comfortable as I feel in Manhattan.

The biggest negative for me was not the hotel itself, but the subway station. There are no elevators or escalators, just lots of stairs. I usually don't mind stairs, but carrying a suitcase up and down was fairly daunting. I would not stay here if I had mobility issues.

In my opinion, this hotel offers a good alternative to Manhattan hotels--if the price is considerably less. I noticed that a few weeks after my stay the price had almost doubled. In that case I would definitely stay in Manhattan.

We stayed with our family for 4 nights during last week of August 2012.

Searching for economic accommodation is not easy in NYC specially if you travel with family and need two room. I got this hotel and select studio room and saved another $225 per day.

hotels near Manhattan is very costly around $300-$400 per night for good hotel like Radission, Marriot, Crown Plaza, W hotel (I stayed in all before on official trip).

This hotel is only 5mls from Mahattan/Times square, 6miles from Battery Park/Statue of Liberty), 2min walk from Metro station, very near to 3 Indian restaurants etc etc.

Only problem is they don't have parking (private parking $15/$20 car/SUV nearby block 24hrs open), don't have any restaurant in Hotel need to order food from outside.

if you need to travel to timesquare in peek hour then will take $20 by taxi and 1hrs otherwise just $12-14 for taxi and 15min to Times square.

Room Tip: If travel with family choose Studio and get microwave, rolling bed and self served B/f in morning.

The rooms are good sized, clean and the bed is very comfortable. It is just a short walk from the queensboro plaza station and if you have a car, there is a parking lot near the hotel available for a quite cheap rate (compared to other parking lots in the city). There is also a mobil next to the hotel. The only down part of our stay was the breakfast. The hotel was fully booked and there are a lot of guests but the breakfast room couldn't occupy everyone. guests had to wait and hunt for empty tables to have breakfast. But its free breakfast and its good enough for us! overall it's a very good hotel. It conveniently located, very comfortable and cheap rates.

Subway is just a five minute walk. Rooms are clean and the price you pay is ok. Also going to JFK is fairly easy and will take about 45 minutes first by subway and then the airtrain. Room though are not perfectly isolated but for a few days thats ok. Breakfast area could be too full, but if you wait for 10 minutes in the lobby there will be space.
