“Great Deal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

Stayed here in July 2012. There is really nothing bad to say. Free breakfast, clean rooms, close to the subway & cheap parking ($44/ 4 days) less than a block away. I found the staff very nice and the bed was comfy.
There is a convenience store right next door with everything imaginable and open 24 hours.
Again, there is nothing bad to say about this hotel.

I stayed at this hotel and thought it was ok. I didn't have any problems. The location was fantastic. Only minutes to Manhattan. I agree that the surrounding area isn't pretty, but it is so much cheaper than staying in Manhattan. Queensboro Plaza Station was literally minutes away and got you into Manhattan very quickly.

The rooms were decent enough and yes, there were a few stains on the light carpet in the room, but overall it was clean and the King Bed was massive!! The fridge and microwave in the room was very handy. The Gas Station next door, has a wide selection of goods, so that was used a few times.

It has been said many times before, so maybe Management needs to look into the fact that some of the hotel staff could really do with some training. They need to know how to interact with customers and should crack a smile once in a while, it isn't that hard to do. If you don't like the job, you are doing, then leave. That said, I didn't come to New York to hang out with the staff. They weren't rude, but it is off-putting when you have to deal with the Front Desk, as some of them look like they would rather be elsewhere.

I will definitely come back to this hotel, as the price is great! If you are looking for a cheaper stay, with very close proximity to Manhattan, then this is it. But just don't expect the staff to give you a warm welcome.

The best part of the hotel is that it is close to the metro station and you can get to Times Square in about 10-15 minutes. This hotel has tons of staff cleaning but it still is not clean. The carpets are stained and clearly in need of a shampoo or even replacement. I don't think management are investing back into the business. Most Country Inn and Suites have a sofa bed but our room had a futon that was full of stains. We had to cover it with s sheet just to sit on it! Gross! We requested a view of Mahattan but when we checked, we were told that there were no rooms available on that side. Needless to say our view sucked! Don't believe them if they promise you a room on the Mahattan side.

Room Tip: Room has a microwave and refrigerator. Free entertainment provided at breakfast watching people try...

My girlfriend and I had booked a "king city view" room for our 10-day stay in New York in May 2012. When we arrived we got a room on the 3rd floor, and there wasn't much of a city view, the manhattan skyline was replaced by local, boring buildings.
There was also a bit of the previous guests hair in the bathroom sink..

I complained, and the next morning we were moved to room 911, on the top floor. The view was absolutely stunning, and the room (+bathroom) was nice and clean.

The rooms are nice and big, and well-equipped with a comfortable bed, tea/coffee-making facilities, aircon, microwave etc.

The breakfast has plenty of (unhealthy) choices, and a few healthy ones. The main problem was getting a table, because when we visited the hotel was booked at 100% capacity.

The staff were great, and the neighbourhood seemed fine, although we only walked through it the 3 minutes it took to get to the Queensboro plaza subway station each day (from the hotel to times square with the 7 train takes maybe 15-20 mins total).

Add free wifi to the above, and I think this is a very good hotel for the price.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on as high a floor as possible - if it is facing manhattan you will be rewarded with...

My family thought that because this is a relatively new hotel, we'd be safe from the persistent problem of NYC bedbugs. Boy, were we wrong. While we did thorough checks of the room upon entering (inspecting seams in box springs, mattress covers, bed skirt) we weren't as careful to check a rollaway bed that the staff brought for our daughter. She and my husband were devoured. It takes several days for some people to react to bites, and so we'd been there for days before we realized the problem.

The overall cleanliness of the hotel should have tipped us off. The stairway carpeting out of the lobby was very dirty. The curtains in the breakfast room were filthy. The breakfast bar itself was never wiped down during each 3-hour meal; it accumulated spilled cereal, waffle batter, crumbs until it looked awful. The tables were so sticky that guests wiped them down themselves. The attendant never did.

Things weren't much better in the room. A busted lampshade. Dust and dirt built up in the corners and along baseboards. Carpet stains and wallpaper stains. A less-than pristine toilet.
All this we could have dealt with, (though not been impressed by) but the bedbug issue has forced me to work for days and days cleaning luggage, store clothes in my backyard until I could launder them, worry about bedbugs in my car, try to figure out how to clean expensive running shoes, take my daughter to the pediatrician, etc. etc.

In short, DON'T stay at this hotel. You might save a few bucks initially, but you are sure to pay for it later.

In the evening very rude staf at the reception. Young, unexperienced and with earrings. Put us in the basement! Worse experience ever. Very agressive when I wanted an other room for my money.
Staf didn't know anything. Our questions about transport to Newark didn't concern them. From checking in till checking out: not any contact or information. Not even a greeting.
Bad neighbourhood at night
Too pricy for what you get.

Ok Positives ,I will say my rating is 3.75 for this hotel

Great Location for Manhattan
Decent Room Size & decor
Has microwave & refg -helps a lot if you are with an infant
Ample Breakfast -
Waffle machine - you can try your hands
Subway - Walking distance of 10 mins
Staff- Accomodative to some extent

Negatives -
Inconsistent Housekeeping - At times ok at times no cleaning
Run down area - you may feel a bit scared if walking alone & if its winter ,Summer months might be ok but faced no issue
No places or stores close by - only one gas station
Breakfast is same - they can have variety - its ok for 1-2 days but when you are staying for more days ,its boring
Area- Nothing great -lot of construction happening

Room Tip: Don't go for the Lower ground floor rooms ,they may not offer any view
