“great location great price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

we found this hotel in a superb location very close to the underground lines and it took about 12 minutes to Time square, the rooms were very comfortable, the only negative thing was the breakfast, we had the same kind of variety during all of our stay (9nights)

Room Tip: go for the rooms with sofa inside them they are bigger

Stayed here because of high reviews and its more reasonable in price than in the city especially on holidays. My husband and I visited during Christmas week. The hotel is all that others have posted. Comfortable beds, clean and spacious. The location is just ok. There is some construction going on and there are some churches around hotel. The problem with the church across the street is that they rent out a reception hall for parties and can last till 3am! We asked front desk about it but they said its legal in NY to party as long as you want on Friday and Saturday. I was shocked when they informed me that not much can be done. The bass from music can be heard in ones room. Some commented the hotel is quiet yes it can be IF no parties are taking place but it seemed that for the 6 nights we stayed there only 2 where quiet enough to get decent rest. One can also hear cars passing by as well as others guests in their rooms if they are loud which happened to us. We stayed in a suite with separate bedroom and living area. Room 309 is very spacious but noises can be heard from outside. There was also some issues with the window in the bedroom it seemed loose and had a corroded spot that cold air and noise would sip through. I addressed issue with front desk but was never fixed. Overall hotel is a good choice for the area but the noises for me where a bit to much.

First, we were surprised to find a New York hotel for around $100.00 and didn't expect much, although the photos and reviews were good. When we arrived, we were very pleasantly surprised: the lobby and our reception were great, the room was huge; however, we need to note that we'd requested an accessible room and it had about three - four feet more width than a regular room. There was plenty of space in the closet and cabinets for our personal items, as well as enough flat space for our luggage.
The location was also great for us since it was less than two blocks from the subway.
Because it was an accessible bathroom, there wasn't counter space, so Tom, the manager, brought up a table and placed it in the bathroom for us.
The breakfast was great, although note that the food is taken away at precisely the closing time.
We didn't use the exercise room or computer area but they both seemed better than "typical."
Tom and all the staff were exceedingly helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: We were in room 507 and had a view of some of the NYC highlights.

I usually stay at the lower-priced Long Island City properties, but I stayed here one night last week and was impressed. The room was larger than I expected. Most of the hotels have a guest-use computer, but the Verve has a room, separate from the front desk, with 3 computers--that made for a more relaxing and private experience. Breakfast includes eggs, sausage, and a waffle-maker, along with some of the other usual items (though no pastries). The hotel is conveniently located to the Queens Plaza and 39th Ave subway stations. Some of the rooms may experience noise from the elevated trains--you might be able to get a quieter room if you ask.

The hotel was nice and very affordable. The staff was very nice and helpful, even the manager took his time to explain us how to get to the nearest subway station and giving us other advice. The rooms are spacious, WIFI is complimentary and a breakfast is included, which was ok. If we will ever visit New York again, we will consider staying here once more.

Location: Very good.
The hotel is 10 minutes away from LGA-LaGuardia Airport by Taxi. It costs only $15 from airport to hotel. The hotel close to 2 Subway stations. lt took only 5-7 minutes walk to the station and it is safe to walk back to hotel when we return from sightseeing in NYC at night. As it is close to subway station, you may heard noise from the train at night. Train passed the hotel every 3-5 minutes so it might be hard for those who have sleeping problem.

Service: Very good.
The hotel staffs are very friendly. They gave good recommendation on the transportation to New York City. There was a complementary water on the check-in date.

Food & Drink: Good
There are Ham, beacon, sausage, eggs served as your breakfast. Breakfast menu is the same everyday.
Free coffee, choco, and tea served 24 hours.

Overall: The place is a very good choice for NY trip. It took only 15 minutes from hotel to NYC. If I have chance to go back to NYC, Verve will be my choice.

Room Tip: Choose high floor to avoid noise from train

The Verve hotel was very accomidating to my wife and I as we were on our 13 year wedding anniversary. The hotel was very clean and decorated very modern and nice. The room was amazing, clean and comfortable and the views were awesome. The hotel manager even offered to take us to the roof so we could get some pictures.
Upon checking in, we were surprised with extra fee's added to our stay, which in turn, made our trip to the city stressful due to not having the funds we planned on having. We found this out as we were eating diner at the Olive Garden in time square. We actually were left with not even enough money to pay for our diner...luckily I had extra cash in my wallet. But, we called the Verve and they told us that this is how most hotels in NYC operated and they apologized greatly for not explaining that to us up front.
Now, I was upset, and my wife was as well. But what the manager did was truly amazing. The manager hoped on the subway and came directly to us, right at the Olive Garden subway stop. He handed us the money that they charged us, in cash and told us to enjoy the rest of our stay.
I believe his name was Justin, and he did make the rest of our stay excellent!

Room Tip: Ask for a good view
