“Great place to stay for NY”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for 2 nights and would have gladly stayed more had we not been travelling to Philly for a gig. Justin was especially attentive and very helpful. It's far enough from the city to be quiet but near enough on the subway to get there easy enough. Our room had a jacuzzi bath in the corner which was very nice. The hotel has a chargeable car park but very tight to get in if you have a large car. Breakfast was adequate self service. There is a great bar across the street as the hotel does not offer this facility. Next time we are I. The city, we would definitely stay again.

A great stay in this hotel that was just a short train ride into central New York. It was hard to find a place that was reasonably priced so close to the city, so this was a real find. Its only a 5 minute walk to the train station and just a few minutes on the train to get to Times Square. The area it is in looks a little rough but I had no trouble walking to train and back, and even ate at the local diner for breakfast one day when I slept in and had the cheapest, biggest meal I had ever seen! There is also a small convenience store just up the road to get supplies and snacks.

The room was sizable for a city motel and had a shower and a bath, all very clean. The bed was huge and again, nice clean linen. The carpet had seen better days but I was only there to sleep as was out and about all day so didn't bother me. All staff very helpful and kind. Breakfast was free so was a good start to a busy day with hot food also available. Tea and coffee were available all day downstairs in the dining room and there was a coffee maker in the room.

All in all a good option for a cheaper stay which friendly staff, clean rooms, free wifi which worked well and a free breakfast.

From 9/13 till 9/18 we stayed at the Verve Hotel in Long Island City and it was awesome.

Before we went I tried to book a reasonably priced hotel in Manhattan but since I couldn't get a good deal we kept our reservation at the Verve Hotel. We didn't regret that, we had a wonderful time.
Within a 5 minutes' walk you'll find 3 subway stations. Within about 10 minutes the subway can take you directly to Time Square.
The rooms are large with free Wifi and a safe.
The breakfast was more than the average complimentary breakfast. The breakfast room was very clean and we had no problem getting a table.

The hotel surroundings are not very welcoming but we never felt not safe, night or day.

Justin and his frontdesk colleagues were awesome!!!
They informed us about all the nearby subway stations and every question we had, was answered with a lot of enthusiasm.
On our last day we picked up our rental car in Manhattan. When we got back to get our suitcases Justin told us to park the car in the garage so we didn't have to find street parking space. We had some navigation trouble, Justin even printed directions to Bear Mountain State Park.

If you are thinking about booking this hotel, don't hesitate, just book, you won't regret it !!

If we ever go back to NYC we will definitely stay at the Verve hotel again!

Got to the hotel yesterday, parcel waiting behind desk as hoped. Receptionist was happy and helpful. Went to park car , wow if you use the car park, which is a necessity really , be careful about the sharp steep turn , I was luckily saved a scraped car by the hotel staff, one eve bran over the save the wing mirror.we had a good laugh but dreading the ascent.
The room , was an executive loads of space compared to a city room we have a jacuzzi bath weirdly in the room. Bed comfortable, yes we hear the subway but we opened the window as opposed to having air con. Pillows were lovely.
It takes twenty minutes to get to Times Square, around $9 for four journeys and eight stops. This place us recommended, yes in an industrial area but you are here to sleep. When we return next year will stay again.
Save your cash to spend in the city and stay here your savings are enormous.

Been to NY few times before but never stayed outside Manhattan. Tried this hotel for a few nights just for a change of location and to save a few quid before staying in the Affinia! Was a bit dubious of location at first and expected little. Well i was wrong.
There is nothing wrong with the area except a little run down but much building going on and the locals are great. This will be growth area in 2 years time btw. Ate in local diners and loved it.
Hotel is great, rooms well kept, comp breakfast which is more than just coffee and croissant, and the staff are so nice, special mention for Justin on reception. Had one problem with a smoke alarm going faulty in the room but maintenance were up and fixed in 5 mins, no messing.
Free wi-fi in all rooms, not just in reception like some more expensive hotels.
Will stay again on my next holiday to nyc.
* I would suggest they get rid of the pc's in the business area and expand the breakfast room a little for peak times.

We have just returned from our trip and cannot fault the Verve hotel at all!

We arrived fairly late at night, and we were welcomed by extremely friendly staff! We were tired and hungry - they gave us a bottle of water and a list of takeaways that would deliver!!

The rooms were huge, we had a nice hot tub and a lovely clean bathroom!

Breakfast was well cooked and filling. Healthy and slightly less healthy waffles available :)

The staff make this hotel amazing! The location is great and the subway is close and easy to use!

Room Tip: Rooms near the back of the hotel do have subway noise. This didn't bother us at all, but if you...

Just returned from a week's stay at this splendid hotel. You don't have to stay in Manhattan proper to explore New York City. The Verve has three subway stops within 5 minutes' walk, with several different lines taking you to Midtown and Downtown. We could be anywhere south of Central Park and always have a direct line back to the hotel. And why not take the train in the opposite direction and explore Astoria and Jackson Heights? The G line (or bus B62) takes you to Williamsburg and downtown Brooklyn, too.
Everything said by other visitors, is true: Large rooms, great bathrooms, fridge, coffee machine and safe in the rooms and comfy beds. A coffee machine with several choices and a water dispenser were at our disposition at all times. Wifi in all rooms, three computers and a printer at the guests' disposition, where we could print our boarding passes for the return trip. The complimentary breakfast was good, although limited. You will not have breakfast included in room rate in most Manhattan hotels. And the staff was wonderful - always smiling and helpful.
Surely, the surroundings are industrial and not very nice, but who cares with efficient subway lines? You are never unsafe in the neighbourhood, however. Not many bars and restaurants close by, but hop on the N/Q line two or three stops to Broadway ( the Queens' Broadway) or 30th Ave, and you will have lots of choices. One block from the hotel is the Dutch Kills Centraal Bar (corner og 29th St and 39th Ave) with an interesting choice of beer on tap and good burgers, although limited opening times.
Booking several months ahead on the Choice hotels' website we got a good rate, much less expensive than at comparable Manhattan hotels. We will surely stay at the the Verve again when in NYC, and we recommend it to everyone.
