“Wonderful Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

My husband and I stayed here on our wedding night and this hotel is so wonderful! I arrived at the hotel, freshly married in my wedding dress and we were welcomed by the friendly and warm staff. The manager Pete went the extra mile and upgraded our room to a Jacuzzi room as a lovely wedding gift! Thank you:) The room was excellent, full of all the amenities and nice and clean. The complimentary breakfast was so delicious as well. The variety was amazing. They had cereal, oatmeal, sausage, scrambled eggs, omelettes, waffles, bagels, pastries, fruits...All! It was such a positive experience, I would definitely come enjoy and stay here again. This hotel is a true diamond!

This was a quick last minute 3 day trip to see a Broadway play with my daughter. I have stayed in other hotels in Long Island City for work so I know the area pretty well. This hotel is super close to the Queens Plaza subway station with perfect for where we wanted to go.
The front desk staff were friendly and greeted us with cold bottled water which was a nice touch. The room was spacious, modern, and clean. The a/c worked great, the shower had good water pressure, and there was a fridge and coffee maker in the room. We also had a sofa and chair which was nice.
They have a 24-hour coffee machine off the lobby that makes hot chocolate, latttes, cappucino, & espresso in addition to regular coffee...I wish I had that in my house!! Also, there was a hot/cold/room temp water cooler.
There are 3 computers & a printer for guest use which we didn't use.
They serve free breakfast each day from 6:30-9:30 which was pretty good.
Everything was great except for one little annoyance...the bottom sheet is not a fitted sheet which is pretty common in hotels, but this sheet was not even big enough to tuck in so the bottom sheet got bunched up as we slept which meant that we spent lots of time directly on the mattress pad. It looked clean, but I doubt it is changed between guests so I was not too happy about that. Why don't hotels just use fitted sheets anyway???? I loved the hotel, but this might prevent me from staying there again. I kept waking up in a tangle and I'm not sure I could handle 4 or 5 days of that on a business trip.

The front desk staff was great to help me plan all my excursions. They never seemed to get tired of answering the same questions over and over again. Plus, the rooms are very nice - modern and convenient. It was much quieter there than I expected - I had no trouble sleeping through the city noise.

If this place had a hot tub, I'd say it's the perfect hotel. But even without one, it was very nice.

Terrific hotel, top to bottom. Friendly, accommodating staff, excellent housekeeping, more than adequate complimentary breakfast, close proximity to something like five subway lines (each station no more than a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel) that appear to run all night, and absolutely top value for the money. Room was huge, beds were nice and firm, good Crabtree & Evelyn bath products, and the AC worked just fine (fortunately). The working class neighborhood seems to be going through some urban renewal, but there was never any thought of danger or discomfort. Absolutely no reason to stay in a Manhattan hotel unless you like tiny, overpriced rooms and employee "attitude." The Verve really is great.

My Mom/Sister visiting from North Carolina stayed at this hotel for a couple days.

They were impressed by the fresh breakfast provided by the hotel! (pancakes/waffles/eggs/sausages/ cereal/pastries/bread/cearal/oatmeal/teas)

The concept of this hotel is based upon a family style stay meaning they want you to come and have breakfast and meet other guest staying in the hotel which is absolulely briliant!

The rooms are comfy.

You will find a local deli market about 1 one block away where you can purchase snacks, sandwiches, juices, beer ect.

There is also a great Brazilian Restaurant about 2 blocks further, the food/prices are great!

This location is very close to the city, you can hail a yellow cab, or you can jump on the train and be in Manhattan in minutes!

If you enjoy walking you can walk 3 blocks down and find various restaurants along 36th Avenue (Thai/Greek/Columbian) there is also a Subways, Baskin Robbins, Keyfood Grocery Store).

I would say if you are looking for a place with a charming Atomsphere this is the spot!.

Note: The area is under development, but I felt quite safe.

Room Tip: Room was 312 with a view facing the Church across the street, I would recommend asking for a room wi...

As NY commuters figured out some time ago, basing yourself in Queens rather than Manhattan means you have at least as easy access to the city's attractions without all the noise and hassle of the 24/7 lifestyle. We stayed at the Verve for 3 nights while visiting friends and family in the area. Not only did we find the hotel clean and well maintained, but the staff couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful. Furthermore, one of the travelers uses a wheelchair and the design of the accessible room was the best we've ever seen: the room is spacious, the doors are easy to open and move around, the shower is accessible but doesn't flood the room, and all the drawers and switches are within reach.

I have nothing but good things to say , the rooms are spacious and clean , the toiletries are very good quality and the complementary coffee machine was a nice treat (I love latte's ) even though there is a coffe maker in the room . It is very close to 2 subway stations which made it very easy to come and go . Special mention of the staff ESP Tom , they where all very helpful and friendly . Would definatly stay there again
