“Classy Hotel on a Budget”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

October 2010, I was on a business trip to NYC. I was looking for a Hotel that was clost to the city but was still going to offer me class and still be within my price range. I found this hotel. It was wonderful!!!! Beautiful rooms, comfy and clean. Staff were very accomdating. Breakfast was offered every morning which was part of the price of your hotel. We had a rental car and they offer car parking in their garage for $10.00 a day. Excellent price compared to hotels in the city. The train was less then a 5 min walk. We would hop on the train into the city which was a 10 min train ride. It was perfect!!! Doen the street were 2 sandwhich shops in which we would stop and get breakfast and go. They also delivered if you wish too. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be close to the city but still has a budget. Free wireless internet and a business center downstairs with printers. Wonderful experience!

Stayed for eight nights in July. Tom and staff made my stay memorable! Their attention to detail is second to none. Approaching the front desk was always a pleasure. No question was ever unanswered.

Proximity to three subway stations meant that Times Square, Grand Central or Central park were all within twelve minutes of leaving the hotel.

Given the great rates at the hotel, this is the place to stay when visiting NYC! I recommend this hotel to all.

We stayed there 2 weeks for visiting New York. It was absolutely great! It s clean, cousy and rooms are big. We felt like it was home for our 14 days stay. It´s a great choice because of the competitive price and nice connection to Manhattan (2 subway station in 300 mt). People from reception was really friendly and helpful in any occasion, even if we didn´t have any problems. The area is really safe on late ours, it might be a little dark but we didn´t see anything to be worried about or scary. We recommend this hotel to all our friends who want to visit NYC without spending a fortune!

My husband and I stayed at the Verve Hotel during the 4th of July week. We loved the proximity to the subway and being able to park our new car in their private garage! The staff was outstanding and went out of their way to take care of us. Thanks to Tom, the manager for great tips on sightseeing, Justin, for letting us use the private deck (after hours) and all the cleaning gals; our room was spotless and turned down for us each night. The hot breakfast was very satisfying and a great start to our long touring days in the city. We will definitely be back next and Verve will be our hotel of choice!

In the beginning we were a bit unsure about the location after reading some other reviews. Nevertheless I would consider the surrounding safe even for a walk during late night hours. The distance from the Queens Plaza subway station is just few minutes by foot. The train brings you quickly to Manhattan.

The hotel itself is nice and clean. Rooms are comfortable, large enough and good equipped. The staff is great and friendly, ask them for help if you need anything. The continental breakfast offers the standard variety of food. An additional bonus for travelers is the free guest laundry (you only need some detergent, available for a dollar at the reception). Game room and gym are also available but we did not have time to use and test it :)

For the next trip to NYC we will for sure come back to this hotel.

I recommend this hotel very highly. The cleanliness is impressive, we had a massive room complete with king size bed, fridge and jacuzzi, which I would encourage you to try.
Breakfast was fabulous, a great selection of cereal, fruit, waffles, toast, bagels, hot sausage and eggs. They even have coffee machine, water dispenser, microwave and internet connectivity with printer that you can use 24x7.
The welcome we received was fantastic, just what you need after a long journey. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, which is just as well given the amount of questions we had for them. They even kept our luggage for a few hours so that we could explore NY whilst waiting for an evening flight.
The location of the hotel is ideal, close to 3 different metro stations, which enable swift access to central NY, as well as easy access from JFK or La Guardia airports. The area is safe, we strolled around at night and sampled a variety of cuisines a 10 min walk from the hotel on 36th Ave, which includes a mini supermarket which has everything you could need.
A special thanks to Tom for being a fountain of knowledge, guiding us around NY and sending us to great tourist places.

Room Tip: Spoil yourself and get one of the king size rooms with jacuzzi

The check in staff was very warm and helpful. Loved the room, breakfast has something for everyone, the big eaters to those that just want cereal and a banana. Very pleasant breakfast room.
