“Great Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

Great location really close to Manhattan, and relatively easy to find, literally 2 train stations into the City Centre. Accommodation was spacious with good wife and a decent Breakfast, Staff was also very friendly. I wish they could have had a sister hotel watch our bags when we checked out but that wasn't a huge deal.

(1) The staff was over all good but 2 people are very helpful - Tara ( GM ) - leading by example & front office - Jessica who was not only friendly but helpful ( got me a water bottle on request for medicines ). Tara was very impressive with her professionalism and helpful attitude - ensuring personal attention to things not going right for me
(2) Shuttle to railway station is good, drivers are courteous
(3) star bucks & fruits on the house is great offer
(3) Found it a safe facility
(4) Wifi has good speed
(5) Room and bed size is good
(6) Baths are neat and well equipped.
Things that didn't go well for me :
(1) No water bottle in the room
(2) I had bed bugs in my original allocated room. I could not sleep for 2 days - on the second day, called the reception at 01:00 and requested to come and check for themselves . No body came and after 45 min wait , stepped down - was told that she can't leave the reception. I was sent a new bedding - no bed was made . I had to make my own bed and had to take anti - allergy pill after which i was able to sleep. This was not expected from a brand like Marriott. I spoke with Tara and she apologized and changed my room. I was not aware till I checked out that she had put a day's rent as credit. Ideally the credit should be for 2 days
(3) Finance department ( if you encounter billing issues ) not co-operative - more of lip service
(4) The hotel does not accept pre-loaded travel debit card to do bookings
(5) Though the breakfast is good, having stayed for 7 nights, same menu with no change makes it so boring . I enjoyed for first 2 days but then started having food outside.
(6) No bar to relax in the evening

Room Tip: Higher rooms give good view of Manhattan.

Price was good and the staff was very helpful. But the location is very industrial and it was difficult to find good parking nearby. The air conditioner in the room was extremely loud along with a large distribution company outside my room started up operations at the crack of dawn did not help with getting adequate rest.
In all, it was only a 2 mile drive to Williamsburg area to get some peace from this very industrial zone.

Good value for money for NYC. Not in a nice area at all. Scary at night, prison down the street, deserted and very run down neighborhood. The hotel is quite nice, good staff and great breakfast each morning. One elevator was not working the entire 5 days that we stayed there.
Sofa in lobby needs replacing. Dirty and worn. Shuttle service to the subway is good but could be improved. Needs to run every 15 mins. not every half hour as it is frequently full and you have to walk or take a cab. Some shuttle drivers are friendly and helpful, some not at all and appear to hate their jobs.
Overall, a good option to see NYC on a budget.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor, it is in an industrial area that is noisy.

We enjoyed two nights in this hotel. The price and proximity to the train were what drew us here. We enjoyed a breakfast each morning and had no problems with staff. The van service picked us up and dropped us off in a timely manner. Our daughter liked the soft towels and son enjoyed the WIFI during our stay.

The hotel has lot of positives ie..

1. Arrange a good schuttle service all over the long island place. So we can ask for pick up and drop.
2.Neat, Clean and Quite.
3.Good hospitality throughout.

They can improve on the breakfast served. It is same all the days which makes it boring..I think it is Marriott style..anyways our stay was very good.

The hotel is reasonably priced for the NYC area. The free breakfast ran from 6:30-10:30 and was constantly being refreshed so food was plentiful. Starbucks coffee, scrambled eggs, waffles, 2 different kids of sausage, yogurt, cereal, breads, etc. Plenty of seating inside and outside on a deck overlooking a movie studio. My daughters enjoyed the free in room wifi and sitting area off hotel lobby. Staff was friendly. We especially appreciated the free shuttle to and from the subway. It ran early in the morning (not sure of the hour) and last trip was 10:45 in the evening. We didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes. One night, we did have to walk since it was too late for the shuttle. I was traveling with my 2 daughters and didn't feel like we needed to call for a taxi. The walk back to the hotel was well lit and there was lots of traffic on the street. It took about 15 minutes. Rooms were very clean. I will recommend this hotel to friends traveling to NYC.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 10th floor (of 12 floors). The height kept the potential noise on the streets ou...
