“Great room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2010

We had a beauitful suite king size bed room. The location isnt the greatest, but we didnt mind taking the train into NYC. Its a 10 min walk to the train...or 2 min ride (free with hotel). Service was good. The rooftop lounge/bar was awesome! I bargained alot and got our room for cheap. The bed was comfy and we loved the shower and bath. I would def stay here again! Great parking area.

Any good review for the Ravel hotel is a complete joke and probably someone that works for the hotel. The Ravel IS NOT the quietest and not the cleanest. It's located in a INDUSTRIAL area so the entire night 18 wheelers are driving by shaking the hotel room and rattling the windows. I literally would jump up out of my sleep from the trucks driving by sounding like someone crashed into a building from the loud BANGS and rattling of the windows in the hotel. Its literally right next to the projects and the view of NY is blocked by an industrial plant. The Ravel hotel is a joke and whoever photo shopped their pictures deserves an award for the best photo shopper in the WORLD. There is absolutely NO WHERE to park and the area is not safe at all. When I say located right next to the projects I mean RIGHT NEXT to the projects. You have to park blocks away late at night to walk to the hotel on dem lit streets. It cost you $25 to take the hotel taxi to downtown NY because the courtesy driver is NEVER available. We were dropped off in NY and were told to to call them when we needed a ride back at midnight. We call the hotel and the front desk clerk tells us that the driver is busy and we would be better offer catching a taxi. Anyone who thinks about staying here is CRAZY. On the weekends the top floor of the hotel has a loud party that keeps you up all night besides the loud 18 wheelers driving by NON STOP. If your looking for a dirty, loud, un-safe hotel to stay at than the Ravel is for you!!!

The Ravel Hotel withdrew $70 dollars from our creditcard while we we're in the aeroplane on our way home the next day. The Ravel Hotel has not responded on all our attempts to get our money back.

I have just come back from the Ravel, after staying for 3 nights with my Teenage Daughter for her 18th birthday treat.
I have to say I was VERY worried about staying here after reading all the reviews, but I was very happy with it.
If you want to pay Manhattan prices, then stay in Manhattan. If not, the Ravel Hotel is a great price and only about $10 ish by cab from Manhattan.
I didnt find the rooms small, I thought they were very spacious & well appointed, although if I have one gripe the lighting could have been better! But that is the only quibble that I have.It was cleaned daily & fresh toiletries were added daily also.
Yes you do get a view of a boarded up building & it is in an industrial area but we felt
safe walking from the train station to the Hotel.
You get a great view of the Queensboro bridge & if you stay in one of the lower numbered rooms you may get a view of the Empire State building. We stayed in 313.
The staff at the Hotel were great, very helpful & polite at all times. We got the Hotels taxi service back to EWR & got a better price than from the Airport to the Hotel & it was much more comfortable & an enjoyable ride. We paid $95 back to the airport & $117 from!? The base fare was $78, so paid HUGE tolls! We are tourists after all!
I am a light sleeper & we were there from thurs thru to sun & didnt hear any music from the roof top, let alone loud music, but that may just have been the jet lag!
IF YOU ARE IN DOUBT ABOUT THIS HOTEL, dont be we had a great stay & the money we saved by not staying in Manhattan went a lot further on shopping!
So thank you to all the satff at the Ravel for a great stay & have a great Christmas.

Although the hotel rooms are quite modern ( but small ), the location of the hotel is awful. It is an industrial area with NOTHING. The hotel will offer to drive you to the nearest metro at certain times, but it hardly makes up for it. Also, the bar on top, with a nice view, is always playing loud music and most patrons do not appear to be staying at the hotel, therefore lack consideration for guests sleeping on a tuesday night...
Should have spent the extra money and stayed in Manhattan...

My Fiancé and I were visiting the Ravel Hotel this Thanksgiving. The pictures provided on the website looked great. We soon realized that most of the advertisement looked great at first glance were to good to be true. When we called, they confirmed that we would get a ride from the airport to the hotel, then told us we should take a taxi instead. The free shuttle is only free on the hour so you need to plan your day around the shuttle. Don't forget if you don't arrive exactly on the hour you get charged! They try to charge you for just about anything possible. The morning staff was amazing and very accommodating. To paint the picture, morning staff was absolutely more than could be asked for, and would have made the trip for me, but the night staff made us uncomfortable. Harold in-particular seemed to be very negative, he did not want to help us figure out our travel plans nor did he want to agree to anything that the "nice" staff would have been willing to help us with. We got a great answer from one person then he told us it was not possible. It was possible in the end, just be aware of Harold. We upgraded to a suite with a good view and we ended up directly below the bar/club and heard the music all night long. My Fiancé confirmed the music didn't stop till about 3 am. I am 22 and he is 27, just to explain, even we didn't appreciate the noise! I have to explain, again I can't stress that the room was spacious, the bed is very comfortable, and the is view great, especially when the early pink sunrise is painted on Manhattan. Long story short, spent two nights at the Ravel; Average. Three nights in the city; Phenomenal.

The room was modern and comfortable. We requested more towels and received them immediately. Our driver was George for most of our visit. I traveled in with 15 other women. We stayed from 11/18/2010 to 11/21/2010. We were greeted kindly upon arrival and all of questions were answered respectfully and quickly. We didn't have to wait long for a driver to pick us up or drop us off at our destinations. The shuttle service was great. Brandon Tyson was also great taking care of our needs. Brandon thanks for looking out for us from the beginning of our stay until the end. You rock!
We had an incident at the Penthouse but the manager apologized and sent champaigne to each room (4) and offered to fix the problem but we had to prepare to leave. It was good to be heard and understood. The problem was due to miscommunication in how the penthouse was run afterhours. On the last night the music was loud from the club on the fourth floor. I called to complaint and the front desk said that they would take care of it. The music wasn't lowered and that was quite annoying because we had to get up early to catch a flight.
