Wagner's is known in Lockport for outstanding roast beef on weck, and if you are in the mood for tender, thin sliced roast beef on a fresh roll crusted with kosher salt and caraway seeds, it doesn't disappoint. What people don't realize is all the other great menu items they offer. The Friday fish fry is a winner. For about $11.00 you get a piece of fish that is as long as your plate. It comes with Cole slaw, your choice of potato, and a dinner roll. The fish is wonderful; a hot, crunchy coating and flaky white meat underneath. Another favorite is the turkey Reuben. They offer the traditional, but this is a little lighter and my personal preference. Served on marble rye from Al Cohen, it is a sandwich that keeps me coming back time and again. The wait staff is experienced and very friendly, especially with the regular clientele. There is a large dining area, and a smaller side section, and also 3 high top tables in the bar area. They have a full bar and serve wine, beer and liquor.
Wagner's is located in downtown Lockport on Park Avenue. It looks like a house from the outside, but wonderful culinary delights reside within. Definitely worth a visit!
