“Wonderful stay on the beautiful Croatian beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

The Bluesun Berulia Hotel in Brela is situated right on a beautiful pebble beach with crystal clear water. The hotel is in a very good shape, the rooms are on the smaller side, but very clean and they all come with a balcony of a decent size. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a room with breakfast, which offers a very good choice of food. The stroll to the center of Brela takes about 10 - 15 minutes from the hotel along the beach (not so easy with a stroller as there are a lot of stairs), but Baska Voda on the other side is more recommendable. If you walk to Baska Voda along the beach, you will pass a few very nice beach bars and restaurants - the food is not outstanding but the location is definitely worth it. All in all, the hotel is very recommendable, in particular for families with children seeking the perfect beach break.

Perfect location, excellent water, well kept and maintained, shower had new fixtures with four different settings: overhead waterfall, hand wand, spout and 6 jets. Great views and trees are so nice on these hot July days. Comfortable grill/bar overlooking the beaches and water was shady and slight breeze to cool off. food was very good, Greek salad was excellent. If you want a giant iMac with TV on a beach vaca, then don't go here and why go to the beach at all. Buffet dinner was very nice, and a steal at the price. On second thought keep this place a secret.

Room Tip: If the Air cond is not working, ask right away, they were on it immediately, but I didn't use it...

Yes. There is a lovely beach bnad fabulous views.
But te hostl _is_ old fashioned. 14" CRT TV, rusty fittings in the shower, there is not any shelves to put your suitcase. And what a smell in the room if you do not leave the balcony door open ))) Is it really 4-star hotel? I think no.
And one more thing, you can settle in the main building (Berulia) and an additional building (Berulia Beach). You don't know what are you really booking - Berulia or Berulia Beach. If you live in Berulia Beach, then each morning you will find an amazing quest how to get to the restaurant, pool bar, fitness (you shuld change the beach towel youself at fitness) by the numerous stairs ))) Sometimes it is so annoying.
The beach is perfect, but keep in mind you need 25 kuna for the umbrella and 25 kuna for each sunbed. On weekends it is overcrowded.
I love this place, the sea is perfect... but the hotel really is 2+ or 3 stars

Room Tip: main building is much better

I read about the hotel and about it looking like an old fashioned giant. It is a large hotel. It is not old fashioned. Ok it was built in the 60's or 70's but it is well presented, clean and well appointed. There is a lovely beach and fabulous views. A short walk to the delightful Brela and Baska Voda. The beach was not busy (as others have suggested) and the grounds were lovely. The staff were polite, helpful and knowledgeable.

Down sides? The breakfast is average. Plenty to choose from but 'big scale' buffet style catering impairs the quality. We ate other meals in the neighbouring villages (some great food to be had. try Konoba Feral) The other down side was that the 'double' bed was two singles pushed together. The hotel was mainly filled with coach trip tourists.

We would return.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view.

We stayed in this hotel a couple of times already and would definitely go back.

Place is very quiet, surrounded with trees, between Brela and Baska Voda. You have to walk along the beach for around 15 minutes to get to either Brela or Baska Voda. Hotel is accessible with the car and there is a parking lot in front of the hotel, however Brela is not convenient for driving a car and we never use it there.
There are not many amenities in this hotel and it is some distance from the village, but surrounding and beaches are unbeatable!!!
Interior is very good for a 3 star hotel as well as food, stuff is friendly and pleasant.

The service at reception was very good but you will like this hotel if....................
- you are German or from an east-European country, we were two of five English people there
- you like average continental food, we preferred to eat out
- you like a buffet style where your plate is removed seconds after you finish eating
- you like "reserving" your sun bed by the pool early in the morning
- you like cosy rooms with limited space for storage
Brela is better than BaskVoda for food and drinks.

The hotel has perfect location between 2 villages: Brela and Baska Voda - 5 minutes walk to both sides. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The beach is 100 meters from your room, but it is really crowded and it is impossible to find the place in the shadow. An option is to rent a sun bed (25 kuna) and an umbrella (25 kuna). The room service was good, but the room was quite small for the price they charge. Breakfast menu was the same every morning. We did not take half board, but we tried hotel dinners couple of times - nothing special and you have to pay for the drinks. I would recommend not to take dinners in the hotel and walk to the villages for different fish restaurants. The price is more or less the same: dinner for 2 people with a starter, 1 liter of local wine and 2 fish/seafood dishes will cost you about 250-350 kuna. Lobster 1kg - 600 kuna.
Hotel bar is expensive and for the cocktails I would recommend to walk 3 minutes to the beach bar, which works in the evenings as well. There is some night life in Baska Voda: couple of cocktail bars and one beach night club.
If you wish to visit Makarska, Split, Trogir and Omis, the best option will be to rent a car and hotel staff can help you to do that.
