“Appalling food, terrible service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2011

Firstly, I can't comment on the accommodation because we only went there for dinner. Having heard this was a luxury resort in Jinja, we thought we'd leave our lovely hotel (The Haven) for one night to have dinner elsewhere for a bit of a change. What a hideous mistake! The restaurant is bright, noisy and lacks character, the staff are on a completely different planet - they don't even know what's on the menu!, and the food the worst we have tasted in years.

The rooms are totally charmless, and so is the place, but they are big and comfortable. Avoid going here on sundays: the place is opened for the public and many people descend to the pool in the weekends. The foos is the usual drab uninspired buffet stuff.

But a good base for those wanting some luxury.

A good place to stay if your intending to do activities such as rafting on the Nile river as it is only a short 5 minutes to most rafting vendors. Nile facing rooms had good views of the river and also spotted some monkeys is the trees near our room on site.
We stayed for one night in mid July when they were renovating the main entrance however cars can still park outside to drop off and pick up guests. Could maybe do with some more decor renovations for it's price range.

The service we received was superb and the waiters and waiters give good service and are so kind.
The rooms are very specious, well decorated and clean. We were staying in room C-17.But there were no netted curtains that means if you wanted privacy during the day,you had to draw the curtains.
The location of Jinja Nile Resort is wonderful, but the only problem is that,it's not well marketed especially when it comes to sign posts. For example, there is one sign post at the roundabout as you come from Kampla. The rest of the way to the Hotel, one has to ask around if you do not know the exact location.
I liked the food, the service and the cleanliness of the place most.
What didn't like was the communication break down.As in the phones in the rooms were down.

Room Tip: All rooms are quite nice but the best are those facing the River Nile Like C-17,C-18,B-19,etc

Spent 5 days working in Jinja and found this resort to meet all my needs. I stayed in a comfortable, well maintained bungalow overlooking the Nile. The setting was most relaxing. Waking up I would open my windows and see the beautiful river below me and as it happened the trees on the hill in front of my room were so high that I was at tree level and "one with the monkeys" The rooms are spacious, very private and comfortable. The restaurant served traditional Uganda fare as well as a good selection of other foods. The meeting rooms were large and worked well for us. The resort sports a great swimming pool and the outdoor meals served at night were great! The resort is only a few minutes drive to the source of the great Nile and a short drive to the falls, where if you choose you can find great level five rapids to run. Not far from Kampala the road is good and the views of the tea and sugar fields are stunning. only down side, the monkeys tend to run at night on the roof of your bungalow..... Overall a very nice visit and stay.

Room Tip: First row of bungalows close to the river side

i stayed at Jinja Nile Resort during my recent visit to Uganda with my family
a wonderful location on the banks of river Nile, beautiful rooms and facilities of spa, 24 hrs internet and wi-fi, good room service, smiling staff.
it's a picnic in itself to stay there
full value for every penny
only problem is -- not much choice for vegetarians

Room Tip: not a very god indian chef though

reguarly stay here and always like it. Right next to white water rafting centre. Great spot overlooking the nile. Can be a bit 'African' at times particuarly service but this is not a regular well trodden tourist spot. Though the room price for non nationals is a bit high food is very reasonable. Recommended.
