Spent 7/10-7/13 at Mirror Lake Inn. Excellent overall experience. Very nice indoor and outdoor pools. Fun beach/boat house. Service was excellent, everyone was very positive, helpful and upbeat. Lots of great advice was easy to come by.

I stayed in room 536, standard hotel room; nothing to rave about here. But Lake Placid is about getting out of your room and enjoying the resort and local activities. The only (minor) complaint is with the hotel maid service. Seems very odd, but expect nothing but fresh towels and beds made.

The spa was excellent -- highly recommend the couples message. Food at the main hotel rest. was very good, service again excellent.

Had a great time. I would recommend this hotel for couples and families. You won't be dissapointed!

“Great Stay”

Mirror Lake Inn Resort & Spa

We stayed in the Mountain View Building in Room 535 (on the first floor) on June 5/6, 2008. Had a partial view of Mirror Lake from our balcony. Great experience! Breakfast in the main dining room was fantastic.

“Clean and nice”

Mirror Lake Inn Resort & Spa

Jun 30, 2008

We stayed one week in mid June. There was a lot of maintenance and repairs going on at the hotel and around town in general. Mid June must not be considered high season, so I'm assuming that's what all the repairs was getting ready for. The hotel was clean, and the view from our room spectacular.
After booking through Travelocity, we were surprised at check-in by an extra charge (over $100) for tips, housekeeping, and taxes...something like that. (The housekeepers were excellent; I just wasn't happy with the surprise of the extra charge)
I think this hotel would be even nicer in the winter. There's a lot of dark wood and a big fire place. Great kind of place for a person who likes to curl up on a cozy sofa with a big book.
Not a great place for most teenagers and kids. They maintain a relaxing low-key aura, and most kids are too high energy.
No cell phone use allowed on the premises. We got a laugh out of the hotel literature that states that using your cell in the room could trigger the fire alarm, and send fire trucks to the facility. Hm That's a new one for me. I agree with most posts here about the food. Too pricey for average food. They try, but the food just isn't up to par. Actually we found this to be true of most of the restaurants in town. Way overpriced, and not good. The 2 exceptions were: Charley's (really good organic salad...very fresh tasting) and Brown Dog Cafe. The duck quesadilla was good, plenty for 2 at a low price.

I am sorry you felt our food was overpriced and average. We receive thousands of positive comments and most guests indicate that dining is one of the highlights during their stay. I hope you let your serve know so that they were able to correct anything that was not acceptable to you.

Once again, thank you for being our guest and I hope you will give us another opportunity to serve you again in the future.

We stayed for the bed and breakfast special, which i believe ended on June 20th. We loved it so much we stayed for a third night on our own.

It was our anniversary and we were surprised that the hotel sent us a bottle of really good champagne on the house!

Service was great throughout the four days. This is a country inn so don't expect the Hyatt Regency. The furnishings are typical Adirondack, lots of wood and warmth. The indoor pool is clean and beautiful.

One minor irritance, a few morning papers are available at the concierge, but I had to pay a dollar for a USA Today.

“Great Place!”

My husband and I just spent two nights/days at the Mirror Lake Inn and we loved it. My husband had heard about the place years ago and so when we were going to be in the area for his college reunion we decided to try it. We stayed on the 4th floor of the Mountain View Building in a very nice room. It was not a large room, but it was perfect for the two of us, great view of the lake, beautifully furnished, and had a very comfortable queen bed with great linens/pillows. The only negative we can say about the room was that there was not a night stand on the left side of the bed (and that was something we could live without for two nights). We had dinner and breakfast at the View Restaurant and had great meals and service. We also had drinks and dessert at the bar and had a great service experience there. The main lobby, reading room and other common areas were really wonderful, comfortable, relaxing. The setting/atmosphere made you feel like you were hanging out in someone's lake home not a hotel (very unlike our experiences at other hotels with lovely common areas - but not ones you want to hang out in). We spent time in front of the fireplace reading, on the deck watching the lake, listening to loons and enjoying afternoon tea, and all of it was lovely! I tried the Spa and had a great treatment (their unique water massage). We also spent a little time at the indoor pool and sauna, both exceeded our expectations for atmosphere, cleanliness, setting. All in all, we highly recommend the MIrror Lake Inn (and a visit to Lake Placid if you have never been). We plan to go back again (although it is a long way from California) and stay longer!
