“Warm and cozy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

Due to a 3 hour flight delay, we arrived late and bedragled. So much so, that we were offered a room with a nicer view. Upon awakening we saw just how nice: The lake, the mountains in the background! We enjoyed the whole property, including a first class gourmet dinner, lunch at The Cottage with complimentary proseco for Moms, and the Spa. The staff was friendly and courteous. Even when they had to search for a brush to take the snow off the car (in May)! We could walk to the shops and around the Lake. The front desk has info on hikes, scenic drives and other restaurants. Definetly a place to stay.

I have stayed at the Mirror Lake Inn, but this recent visit was my first return in nearly ten years. The owners have been busy during that time and the resort is nicer than ever! The new Colonial Building rooms are over the top beautiful. The renovated bar is larger and more inviting, and I also like the new bistro that offers a second and lighter dinner fare. Dinner at the Mirror lake Inn was outstanding; our group were all pleased and we enjoyed not only the unique menu offerings, but the presentation was excellent too. The waiter was fun and the wine guy was informative and really helpful. There was one tiny thing i didnt like and that was the fact that there is no laundry service at the hotel. I really needed some clothes sent out and they do not offer that. I was surprized of a hotel of this caliber. I was told that dry cleaning was not available in the area - and the locals sent out their clothes to a place far away and it took days to get them back - so okay - dont offer dry cleaning, but at least laundry service. That tiny gripe wasnt enough to sway my opinion and i still think MLI is a great place - oh - and the Cottage Cafe has the best view of most any bar I have seen and it is cozy and fun. The public rooms at the Inn are beautiful - filled with antiques and wonderful touches and the woodwork is amazing.

Room Tip: The colonial cottage is amazing, but expensive. I also like the Lake Cottage. If you are in the Moun...

Thank you for being our guest! We are glad that you came back and enjoyed the renovations we have done since your last stay. Unfortunately since we are so rural it has been difficult to get same day dry cleaning and laundry service since the previous business closed due to retirement. We certainly wish this business opportunity would become available again in our area. I am glad that it will not deter you from coming again! We look forward to your return!

My wife and I decided to spend a few days in Lake Placid and stayed at the Mirror Lake Inn. The staff were excellent. The restaurant was fantastic with a view of the lake and mountains. I enjoyed one of the best filet mignons I have ever had served with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus My wife loved the halibut. Our room was perfect it was spacious with a balcony overlooking the lake and mountains. The spa and pool area were so relaxing. We will be back here again.

Whar a lovely inn! Our room looked out on the lake. The staff could not have been more attentive. It's obvious that the innkeepers take pride, and time, in training their extensive staff. The inn is exquisite and we enjoyed sitting by the wood fire in the lobby seating areas two evenings.

Even though the original building burned in 1988, its replacement could be right out of the turn of the century with its elegance, dark woods, and attention to detail. Would definitely recommend the inn to anyone...a very relaxing experience. Dinner and breakfast also were great but I'll address those separately.

Recently visited with a group of friends for the "Girls get-away weekend" during the spring off season. The service was outstanding and the food was fantastic.
The rooms and facility are elegant and meticulously maintained.
The common areas are comfortable and cozy. The entire staff goes out of their way to accomoate any requests and make you feel welcome. Rooms had beautiful views. The village is quaint with many shops and dining options. I woul make this an annual event.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

We traveled to Lake Placid to celebrate our college aged son's birthday with some winter outdoor activities. Mirror Lake was a tick above our normal travel digs, but this was a special occasion.
What a special place! The building is classic, and as such has a prime location in Lake Placid, itself a classic destination. Beautiful polished woodwork abounds. The library and adjoining common areas are all done in period adirondack furnishings with appropriate taxidermy gracing the room. It's easy to envision the Rockefellers and Carnegies basking in the warmth of the room's fireplaces.
The views over mirror lake are stunning.
Our room was in a newer part of the complex, but our balcony had that mirror lake view, and our accomodations were first rate. All perfectly maintained, clean and fresh. The room was spacious and quiet. Our building was connected to the main building via an elevated hallway, itself decorated in oriental style carpet and period furniture. No need to venture out into the weather.
If you did indeed venture out, as an example of their attention to detail, the exterior entrance stairway is heated to prevent snow and ice formation.
The reception staff were friendly, efficient and professional, somehow avoiding the snootiness that can sometimes infect employees of these upscale establishments. Even the maintenance staff was friendly and customer focused. Would definitely recommend this inn.

Mirror Lake Inn has a classic feel that transports you back in time. Built as an estate in the 1920's, the property exudes elegance and traditional homeliness that makes for a perfect weekend getaway. We really enjoyed the common areas, especially the library with its cozy fireplace. Our room had a spectacular view of the lake and the snow-capped mountains - felt almost surreal seeing it first thing every morning. The service was great all around and everyone was more than happy to help with any questions or concerns. My only gripe (and the reason this isn't a 5-star review) was the somewhat worn condition of our Noonmark room. However, we plan to return here whenever we can.
