My Sisters from Scotland and I spent a wonderfull day at the Spa, The massages were great, and relaxing in the whirlpool after with a cup of tea was a girls day out delight. We had lunch in the main restaurant and enjoyed the first class food. We plan an doing it again next visit.

“Great get away and a visit from Santa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

We enjoyed our relaxing stay. The pool was beautiful.....feel like you're outside. The room was larger than average rooms. My kids enjoyed the scavenger hunt and our visit from Santa in our own room. We also ate across the street at The Cottage. What a nice change from a chain restaurant. We had a special rate which made it affordable. Great memories!!!!

“Very Nice Way to Spend the New Year!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

Stayed at the MLI from 12/28 - 1/2, with my wife and 2 kids, (12 and 15). We stayed in the mountainview building, ausable suite, and had enough room for all. Kids shared a queen pull-out, and my wife and I enjoyed the King bed. It was a non-ski vacation because of an injury, but we were out and about all the time.
The room itself has an older, ski-lodge type feel to it appropriate to the surroundings...clean, comfortable if not a little rustic in feel, still very comfortable and pretty. We looked out onto the lake and really enjoyed the view. It was truly beautiful as it snowed on and off almost the whole time we were there!
We enjoyed breakfast at the hotel twice... it was good, but not exceptional. We enjoyed the food, at The Breakfast Club in town, more. Had dinner at the hotel two times, including their New Year's Eve seating. Again, it was good, but not exceptional. We made our way into town on the other nights for dinner.
The hotel was beautifully decorated and coupled with the snow was really quite gorgeous.
The gym was serviceable and clean. The spa was very nice with a beautiful locker room and hot tub, the massage itself was enjoyed.
The hotel does itself proud on all counts and only loses one "star" because it was a little less than I expected based on the fees. In all fairness, I think being there during a Holiday week might have caused them to be just a tiny bit off their game, and being sensitive to customer service, I felt it more than most. Overall the hotel is beautiful, well-serviced and most of the employees are a pleasure!
I'd recommend this hotel to anyone looking to enjoy Lake Placid.

Room Tip: get a lake view if possible

“Pampered and Relaxed on the Lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

We celebrated our anniversary here with a long weekend and it was really a wonderful trip. Because it was winter and not a lot of snow accumulation (Whiteface Mt. is 9 miles away) the Inn was pretty empty. We stayed at the Lake house across the street from the main building and we had the entire house to ourselves. Not a single other person was staying there during the time we were there. Check in was a breeze. We drove up to the main building, checked in, and then drove across the street to the small parking area that is provided just for guests of the Lake Houses.

When we got to our room, the one minus that I would give Mirror Lake Inn is for the decor. It is pretty outdated all around, but the carpet especially. It was this thick shaggy dark green which really could have used a major upgrade into the 21st century. Other than that, the room was very clean and spacious. There were 2 small seating areas, one a love seat along one wall and another, a table and 2 chairs in front of a window facing the lake. There was also a gas fireplace and a very small TV. The bed was comfortable, the closet was very tiny, not much place to store clothes. A refrigerator and bar sink was also in the room. The bathroom was immaculate. A little on the small side, but hooks and shelves for storage. We had chocolates and a bottle of Welch's Sparkling Grape Juice laid out for us, which was a nice touch since I am expecting. We also had turn down service with chocolates and a poem each night.

We ate breakfast each morning across the street at the Main Inn building. The one downside was all the stairs to climb up to the main building. This could be an issue for some. On the positive: every single staff member we had contact with was so friendly and personable. It really stood out to us. Everyone greeted us, asked if we needed anything, jumped to seat us and bring us pretty much whatever we asked for and with a gracious attitude. There were always fresh-baked cookies at the front desk and each time we walked by they would put one or two in a little to go bag for us.

I would describe breakfast as very good. For the price tag we had higher expectations, but it was delicious nevertheless. The selections varied each day, but there was always an omelette station and the orange juice was fresh-squeezed. We also had dinner there and it also was very good. We ate at The Cottage and we loved it! It was jam-packed at 2 in the afternoon. Food was delicious! We also used the spa and pool. The pool has a neat waterfall and was definitely a favorite. All in all we had a great experience at the Mirror Lake Inn. Compared to other luxury resorts we have stayed I am still on the fence if it was a good value. The staff was amazing and the lake views from our room were just beautiful. It wasn't at all crowded and I think that is what made us feel so at home. I think had the Inn been filled to capacity we might not have had as much breathing room. We would definitely go back if the Inn offered better packages.

Room Tip: The Lake houses across the street from the main building are quiet with beautiful views.

“dream trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Stayed here for an overnight ski trip. Everything here was to die for. Booked a travelzoo rate and got a cloudsplitter room overlooking the lake. Room was fantastic, pool and hot tub were great for relaxing. My wife had the signature massage which she raves about all the time. We had dinner and drinks at the cottage which was very good. Service was outstanding. We went to Whiteface in the morning and were doing first tracks which started at 730 am. So we needed breakfast before the restaurant opened. The restaurant staff kindly helped us with a continental style breakfast which was waiting for us in the lobby that morning! Its fun to be at a hotel which goes out of its way to help you out! Will definitely go back if I travel to Lake Placid again!
