“OUTDATED!”

Econo Lodge Lake Placid

We stayed here 3 years ago, and was pleased besides the fact the pool had dark green water, This year was a little different. The decor and bedding is way outdated. There was rust on the bathroom ceiling, and the main door had touch up paint in 2 different colors. We were dissappointed there was not a microwave or fridge. We didn't even get the free sample of shampoo. For the price we paid for 2 nights, we were not happy. The personnal staff were friendly, and the coffee, and english muffins, an donuts hit the spot for our 2 kids! It's a great place to stay if you don't mind outdated, run down rooms.

“Just fine for $53”

This hotel is about 1.5 miles out of town.
It's a solid 2* property. Nothing more. Nothing less.

They have rooms 'motel style' (entrance outside), and rooms hotel style (hallways). My room, #201 was motel style. It's a nice sized room. The furniture and tv are slightly dated. My wife would hate it; but since I was alone, it didn't matter. The tv had about 70 channels!

Nize sized, but underlit bathroom. The shower could have used a bit more power.

The continental breakfast was english muffins, and packaged donuts, orange juice, and coffee. Nothing fancy, but it will get you started. There's a good bakery next door to the movie house if you want some real muffins and scones!

The pool/jacuzzi are located in the'hotel' part of the property.

Overall, I'd return.

“Terrible is an understatement”

Econo Lodge Lake Placid

That about explains it. I have stayed in alot of hotels (I traveled through Europe for 4 months staying in a different hotel in a different city every 2-3 days) and this was by far the worst. Everything in our room (both rooms, we requested a new room because the first was disgusting, the other room was actually worse) was stained and disgusting. I felt like I was going to leave with some third world disease. Management and service were horrible. They would not do anything to help improve our stay. Nothing in the room worked from the alarm clock to the TV (tv kind of worked I think it was the first color tv produced, the remote didn't though). We would have found another hotel but this was during SnoeDown and every room in Lake Placid was booked. This also caused the econo lodge to raise there prices for that weekend. It was ridiculous. I cannot say enough bad things about it, it was just horrible, we are actually going through our credit card company to get our money back, since management would not do anything and they were incredibley rude about it. Honestly there was nothing good about this hotel, it has a pool but I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. The place should be condemned.

Management Response
Diane Brenner, Diane Speckmann Public Relations Manager
(Management representative)
Aug 1, 2006
The guest complained the second night of his stay of noise in the hallway. Our personnel on staff tried to quiet some of the rowdier and louder guests in the hotel. During his stay, the guest never complained to anyone about his alarm clock not working or the remote control not working. The guest was compensated for the inconvenience of the noise, but he felt the compensation wasn't enough. He additionally went to Choice Hotels for additional compensation which he received. Still not satisfied, the guest contacted the hotel again for yet further compensation. When management wouldn't grant any additional compensation, the guest threatened to write a bad review about the hotel.

“Great place to stay”

We just got back from a 2-night stay at the Econo Lodge.
Hard to beat $115USD (all included) for 2 nights.
It is definitely not peak season, but going through Expedia, there was no better rate for anything else.

The Hotel is not on Main street, but is very central. It's less than a five minute drive to main street.
Just down the road from the Olympic Park.

There are a few grocery stores around, but the major store, Price Choppers is about 10 minutes away. There isn't a restaurant in the hotel, but there is plenty of delivery options for food, and the big restaurants are just a few minutes away.

The indoor pool is clean, the hallways were nice and the room was perfect as a home base for our touring.

There is a ski waxing room available, and the hotel is bike friendly.

We'll definitely stay here on our next trip.

“Clean, Friendly Hotel”

Econo Lodge Lake Placid

Oct 11, 2005

We stayed in the newer part of the hotel on Columbus Day weekend. Although the price was a bit high, it was still far cheaper than all of the other hotels in Lake Placid. The front desk was friendly and efficient. Our room was large with two queen beds, and was spotless. The glass doors onto the balcony were nice. Although we didn't use it, the swimming pool looked nice as well. This hotel is located outside of town, but was less than 5 minutes from Main Street. If you're looking for a clean, friendly hotel at a better price, I would recommend the Econo Lodge at Lake Placid.
