“Perfect stay - Great room and value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

We received a free upgrade to one of the Whiteface Lodge's one bedroom suites and it was amazing. We stayed for 3 nights. The resort facilities are wonderful and the staff is excellent. We had a babysitter - Erin - babysit for us through the hotel, and she was great! Very responsible and experienced. As the other reviewers say, it is a "first class" hotel and it is luxurious, but I also found it to have a laid back, friendly, and cozy feel. We ate at the hotel a lot and consistently liked the food. We also tried to stay at the Lake Placid Lodge (see other review) and liked this much better, even though the Whiteface Lodge cost less. We will definitely be coming back!

We just spent our third summer at The Whiteface Lodge. We absolutely love it there and can't say enough. The hotel is adorned with wood and stone with a very Adirondack decor. It is warm an cozy, yet upscale and elegant in every way. There is so much to do right on the property from fishing in the pond (they supply the rods and bait), to the bowling alley, to the movie theater with free popcorn. There is a gym and a spa as well with sauna and steam. I love the twice daily housekeeping with the best chocolate chip cookies served both at 3pm in the lobby and in your room each night. Every room has a full kitchen and washer/dryer so I had all the comforts of home, yet I was still pampered by the hotel staff. There are two restaurants on property, one a pub style and the other more elegant dining. The food is good, but I love the restaurants in town around Mirror Lake. There is also an old fashioned movie theater in town which we love, tons of hiking, and fishing galore. We rented a boat and guide, Wiley's, who was amazing. We also did canoe fishing this time as well. Anna, the concierge, is amazing and can help with all your needs. Don't forget the kids camp and smores by the fire at night, both complimentary with your stay. The Whiteface Lodge is also situated between 2 grocery stores, an organic cafe which makes vegetable juices and fresh foods, a yoga studio, mini golf, and so, so much more. They offer shuttle service to their private beach a mile away where they offer canoes, kayaks, boat rentals, water skiing, beach volleyball, and a cafe as well. What else do you need? You MUST go!

Room Tip: We had a two story, 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom this time, but all of the rooms have balconies and great v...

We stayed for two nights at this lovely hotel whilst visiting America. I just wanted to let others know about this place, it was absolutely 1st class...
Everything about it is perfect, beautiful furnishings, great service, lovely surroundings, pool was as warm as a bath....
Would love to return to America just to stay here again.
Thankyou for the great service.

We had a great stay here - our one-bedroom was spacious and nicely furnished. Great gym, nice outdoor jacuzzis, loved the movie theater & popcorn, nightly smores. Excellent restaurant for breakfast and for dinner and nice bar atmosphere in the early evening. However, we didn't see Lake Placid - literally! I definitely wish the lodge was on the lake but I still don't think I'll ever stay anywhere else ~ it was a dream to find a place that has all the resort amenities but with real rooms with kitchens and washer/dryer, etc. PERFECT.

Incredible vacation, the lodge is first class, we can't wait to return. The restaurant offers limited selection but anything we ordered was fabulous! The facilities are great for families or couples. The heated indoor/outdoor pool was surrounded by mountain scenery.

Room Tip: All rooms are suites.

When we arrived at Whiteface Lodge- we were a bit put off that it wasn't on the water- but that was okay.
The place is gorgeous- reminiscent of an old national park lodge in the west. All of the details seem well thought out and taken care of. They give you free wifi, free laundry, free warm chocolate chip cookies and tea, free s'mores for the kids around a fire in the evenings, the list goes on and on. I felt very taken care of here. Often times these days, one can feel nickel and dimed at a nice hotel, but this place really took care of us. We had some things that we didn't want to carry home, so they packed and shipped a box of things and sent it home for us. When our car tire got slashed on a back road, they let us know, arranged for everything to be fixed and made sure we could leave the next morning at 6am. They were amazing.
Oddly enough, the worst experience we had was with the spa. We have had hundreds of massages and experienced our first massage with a smoky massuese here, which was unpleasant. They were sweet and tried to remedy the situation, but they weren't as nice as they could have been.
The restaurants were good- breakfast was tasty, but Kanu seemed over priced and unimpressive.
Have fun!

Rooms, staff, pub, pool/spa are all top notch. Huge log beams, lots of Adirondack art and furniture all work for a great lodge experience. Besides the indoor/outdoor heated pool and hot tubs, kids loved the free movie theater, with popcorn, and s’mores by the campfire. Choc chip cookies for evening turndown is a nice touch, as is filling the in room ice bucket. Loved the big porch off the room to enjoy view of the woods. A knowledgeable and able barman in the pub which also had good food choices (eg buffalo burger, meatloaf). A couple of miles to the town of Lake Placid. Highly recommend!
