I've never had anything but great meals at Jimmy's 21, so this was simply one more in a long succession of wonderful meals. I ate here while in Placid for a conference, and wandered in for an early dinner. There were very few people dining when I arrived, so I was able to get a seat by the windows, which provide a splendid view of Mirror Lake, in back of the restaurant. (Close enough to watch the ducks eating, too!)
For dinner, I ordered the Seafood Neapolitan, which was shrimp and scallops in a "light blush sauce" served over linguini. I must admit that the sauce was NOT as it was described..."light blush." Instead, it was a thick, creamy, wonderfully-flavored sauce that coated the pasta and the seafood alike. I think it tasted more like a traditional vodka pasta sauce than anything, but it was superb! Plus, the dish was filled with an excess of jumbo shrimp and scallops, both cooked perfectly and sitting on top of the pasta. This was a truly great dish that balanced all the tastes in perfect proportion. I loved it!
Helpful hint about this restaurant: if you make a dinner reservation and have anyone who is handicapped in your group, tell them in advance so they don't give you a table downstairs. There is a very steep and narrow spiral staircase that gets you from one floor to the next, which would not be passable to a handicapped person.
THis was a wonderful visit (again!), and I would gladly come back here.
