“This Cowboy knows how to cook!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2014

I was expecting a basic meat and potatoes kind of place and was delighted to experience a wonderful fusion dining experience. The corn chowder was beyond delicious with a sophisticated blend of flavors. Likewise the spicy peanut tofu with udon noodles had wonderful vegetables, perfectly crisp cooked in a light sauce that was so good, I didn't want to miss a drop.
My husband who enjoys more basic fare, enjoyed his chicken sandwich (made to his specifications, no cheese please) with tasty sweet potato fries. Portions were very generous and prices extremely reasonable. Go for the food, nor the ambiance. A comfortable setting for family dining.

“two visits this week”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

We had dinner here twice this week . The first visit was great from service to food. The second visit didn't go as well. The food was as good, but the service was a bit disappointing. Drinks were slow in coming and our appetizers came out with our dinners. The server said "sorry", but didn't offer any solution . They seemed like they were trying to "turn over tables" . Very different from our visit earlier in the week.
Food and drinks at The Cowboy are always good , but next time we won't count on the server to be experienced and space out the appetizers with the entrees.

“Not just Beef!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

Don't let the name fool you. Almost everyone in our party said they probably would't have stopped because of the name. Thankfully I had been here a couple years ago and convinced them it was great.
There were 8 of us in our party and every one of us were extremely happy.
The menu is interesting, the food is excellent snd the service was superb!
If you are staying in this end of town, don't feel you have to go downtown for a good meal.
The Cowboy is great!

“The locals eat here”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

After a bad experience down the road we stopped in here. The service was wonderful--very friendly. We noticed lots of locals in and out and some around the bar. That's always a good sign. The menu is unusual for a place called "Cowboys" but in a good way. Hubby had a burger and I had a steak and both were big and yummy! Again, difference between a chef and a cook, I believe. The presentation of the dishes was classy. It was a little pricey but it's a tourist town so I would say it was worth it. We'll go here again if we're ever in Lake Placid. Cute decor.
