We had saved this restaurant for our last evening in Lake Placid. I had made reservations over 6 weeks out just to be sure that we'd be able to have dinner at a table by the windows overlooking Mirror Lake.
When we arrived, there were no reservations for us to be found anywhere. Fortunately, I had printed a copy of my on-line reservations and showed it to the host. Even with that, the "best he could do" was to seat us at a table in the second row of tables from the window. When I voiced my unhappiness about that, he gave us a table at the windows that had been reserved for another party who was coming later in the evening.
We sensed from the start of our meal that the goal was to get us served quickly so that we would be making an exit before that party arrived. We had just barely sat down when our server asked us for our drink orders; we had our drinks for just a few minutes when he returned for the order of our meal; our salads were delivered VERY quickly..........and our meals were served to us almost as soon as the salad plates were taken away.
I had the 10 oz. Center Cut Filet Mignon. It's not that it wasn't good..........it's just that it was nothing special. In fact, I think that the Blue Cheese served on top of it actually overpowered the taste of the beef, so to me, it was a "so-so" dish.
My spouse ordered the Prosciutto Wrapped Maine Scallops. He enjoyed the scallops, but didn't care for the Artichoke Citrus Pesto that was served with them.
Would we return? Probably not, as there are too many other restaurants that we'd like to try and/or re-visit.
