“Fantastic small plates overcome bar atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2010

We tried this place at the end of September. I was surprised to find a very low key atmosphere with small round tables featuring stools with no back. Thankfully, great food and a great beer (Mother's milk) overcame this drawback. Another small drawback was the poor plating - food presentation could be improved (plates were far too large, making the portions look extra small and making it difficult to pass plates back and forth).

The menu featured over 10 interesting small plates with plenty of options for vegetarians. There were a few large plates as well, but we chose 3 small plates plus sides of zucchini and apple coleslaw (refreshing, good palette cleanser) and fries (very tasty, thin style) with homemade ketchup (strong tasty tomato flavor).

Utica greens with smoked trout - Good spicy flavor.

Bluefish with lemon pudding - Didn't love this plate but it had interesting flavors.

Mac n' gnocci - Fun twist on mac n' cheese.

All in all, this was a very fun dinner.

“Honestly Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2010

Simply put, favorites restaurant in Lake Plaicd - try to go somewhere else, or think of new ideas, but always taken back and never disappointed. Try everything on the menu - it's cheap enough, and you will be pleasantly surprised!

“Gulp Down Some Liquids & Chow Down Some Solids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2010

On our annual NGA (no guys allowed) trip this past weekend, my girlfriends and I had dinner here - it came highly recommended by the locals when we asked the infamous "where is a good place to eat?" After hitting up the Lake Placid Brewing Company (which serves awesome local brewskis - I highly recommend having at least one beer or a flight of beers here when you are in Lake Placid!) we jaunted down the hill -away from the Main St. "strip" - to find scrumptious food and a cozy atmosphere.

First of all - the restaurant itself has a FUN name.

Now think innovative, creative, FRESH....all wrapped up in tapas style small plates as well as a few big plates (entrees). This is FUSION cuisine at its best! Between the 5 of us we CHOWED DOWN the following:

Grilled calamari with summer squash, white bean ragout, & roasted tomatoes
L&S special burger complete with homemade pickle & house secret sauce
Gorgonzola gnocchi with crispy leeks (one of the BEST pastas I've ever had!)
and two more small plates I'm forgetting at the moment!

We also GULPED down some wickedly yummy drinks - among the favorites were a spicy fruity margarita made with cayenne and a beer made with milk (sounds gross but oh so good!)

Two of us split homemade apple fritters with butterscotch sauce and a cranberry-raisin relish - out of this world!!!!!

The waitstaff was very attentive, friendly, and in tune and responsive to our questions about the menu.

We cannot wait to head back here - all 5 of us agreed that the food was AMAZING - and we were still talking about how much we enjoyed L&S the next day!

“Solid choice - Liquids or the Solids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2010

Travel often and eat out often - this place hit the spot. Creative unique food. Were in Lake Placid for four nights ate here twice. Extremely friendly wait staff. The co-owner rules the bar and does she know how to mix (careful if you are driving).

The menu items were reminiscent of a cross between The New England Culinary School restaurants in Vermont and our favorite tapas fare at Jamie Kennedy's in Toronto.

Will be back again and again
