Just returned from 2 nights at Cobble Mountain Lodge. The
cabin we stayed in was #17.Here goes......First the good.
Very clean cabin.New appliances in kitchen. Marvelous adirondack decor.Nice gas fireplace.New countertops, cool
twig and bark lamps in bedroom.Reasonable price, esp. for
lake placid. Now the Bad......... The place was under serious construction when we were there. We didn't know before arrival.
The parking and getting to our cabin was tight and tricky due
to the work being done.People were working on the cabins,in
various stages of construction, our entire stay. Not very private.
No curtains on any of the windows in cabin.Shades only.
Website says king size bed in cabin,Full size in reality.(unless
you were supposed to take the two mattresses on the floor in the loft, and stick them together)We tried to sleep on the full size bed,
the first night, but were not comfortable.Seems the frame was
not in proper position underneath.
Tired bedspread.Thin pillows. There were six in all in the cabin, and we took three apiece to try to be comfortable.
Second night of our stay we went up to the loft to sleep.Steep
stairs up to loftand we had to crawl around up there due to the
ceiling height. The wood work was very nice, but we were not comfortable.Old futon in front of fireplace needs to be replaced.
Definately not an option for sleeping.
Need lamps in living room/kitchen area. The only lighting was
from a glaring ceiling fan,and a microwave night light.
TV was a good size, but placed up too high to be comfortable watching it in the living room area. You could see it better from the loft if you watched it in between the railings up there.
Cabins are all close together, and we had to keep the shades drawn all the time. The place has some wonderful things about it,but lacking in comfort,etc......You can see they are working
hard to make this a nice place to stay, and I wish them luck on
all the work that lies ahead.
