“Location, views, clean, comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

We stayed here for 2 nights with our son and was happy with the choice. I'm not sure which I was happier with - the location or the views from the room. Main street is literally across the street with all the restaurants and shops and it is also just across the street from the lake. The pool was immaculate. Sitting by the pool you have the fabulous mountain and lake views. It is truly a breathtaking view. The rooms are large but I wasn't so much a fan of the decor - painted dark gray which makes them very dark with red scratchy wool blankets over the comforters. The bathrooms are very small but clean and that's all that really matters. No in-room safes, but the one thing I really feel they need to address is putting a light on the path from the lakeside into the motel and an overhead light by the doorway. At night it was pitch dark on the path and no light above the door was a bit surprising.
None of that was a deal breaker for me, I still enjoyed staying at Lake House for everything else it has to offer. Views, location, comfort, cleanliness and an extremely nice and helpful staff.

We had a very positive experience at the Lake House. With 2 adults and 2 children, we still found the room to be spacious enough, with the exception of the bathroom. It was pretty small, but adequate. The renovations are nice. The pool and hot tub were being worked on during our stay but we were able to go over to the High Peaks Resort and use all of the amenities. The view from our room was gorgeous. The free use of the kayaks was a great bonus! The huge "family room" setting was fantastic for playing board games in the evenings. I would highly recommend staying here as it's a great hotel and the price can't be beat considering the location!

Stayed one night, late check in - early check out. Quick impressions: recently updated property with hip/retro adirondak vibe; open concept, clean rooms (even the closet has no doors); comfy bed; great rate ($98); super friendly staff; private balcony with beautiful view of Mirror Lake and it's steps away from town/restaurants. Really, what more can you ask for? Would have given 5 stars if the room had been a tiny bit cleaner - floor could've been vacuumed a bit more thoroughly. Still a great place.

We (family of 4 with two young ones) had a great time at the Lake House. Very friendly staff, clean room, great view of the lake. You get to use all the facilities from the High Peaks Resort and so we used the outdoor pool down by the lake and the paddle boats. Saturday night movie by the other outdoor pool (again at the High Peaks across the road) was family friendly Shrek, sitting out under the stars.
But the favorite for the family was for sure the common room at the Lake House which is a great big room with comfy furniture, a bar and board games for the kids. Definitely would stay here again!

This hotel is very new and modern. Bright colors of red, black and grey. Affiliated with the High Peaks Resort across the street and you can use their facilities. The absolute best thing about the Lake House is that it's right on the corner of Lake Placid's Main Street so you can walk everywhere in town and not have to spend lots of time looking for parking spots or going bumper to bumper down Main Street most of the day. Lots of very good restaurants within a 5-minute walk. Beautiful view of Mirror lake, especially from rooms of the second floor. Gorgeous! The room was large with a small balcony. Housekeeping service needed some improvement but the head of Housekeeping set things straight and we were pleased with the end result. Lots of young couples especially on the weekend but a varied group otherwise. The bar and lounge area were hopping on Friday night. Staff was very helpful and pleasant.

Obviously a very recent remodel of a 1961 hotel, Lake House is rustic and kind of retro/hip. Rooms are large and each room has either a patio or balcony with good views of Lake Flower/mountains. Bathrooms on the small side, but were fine. Wall color of the rooms are dark grey, so it seemed kind of cave-like, but it was unique; it worked. WiFi worked fine. Lake House is associated with the High Peaks Resort (across the road) so guests have access to free kayaks and canoes, and other amenities of a full resort, including several pools indoor and outdoor. Location was fantastic, right at the end of Main Street; easy walk to shops and restaurants. Free parking. Due to the recent remodel, the rooms still have a smell of fresh paint and cut wood (oddly, it reminded me of a pencil sharpener full of shavings)...but it's not terrible, you get used to it.

We just returned from a 6 day stay at Lake House. Our room was very large, with a balcony overlooked Mirror Lake. Lovely view. The room, and the hotel overall, was not luxurious but it was comfortable. We took the "Green Plan", which means no housekeeping and got a credit of $5 a day. Clean towels and coffee refills were available and we don't care about having someone make our bed, so it worked for us. The staff were very friendly and helpful, including an immediate response to my request for a more comfortable chair in the room.

Lake House is part of High Peaks Resort, a more modern and plusher hotel across the street. The Dancing Bears Restaurant in that hotel has good food and service, and if you'd rather not walk across the street, you can have it delivered to your room or to the bar/gathering room at Lake House.

The hotel is located at the beginning of the commercial section of town. Go in one direction and stroll through the pleasant shopping district. Go in the other direction for a lovely walk around Mirror Lake.

All this and the price was unbelievably low.

We would certainly return.

Room Tip: Ask to be higher up for the best view.
