“Best B&B Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2008

The Lamplight Inn is a beautiful, huge home on lovely acreage surrounded by trees and lawns. We stayed in the Northern Exposure Suite (fully handicapped accessible) with a private deck and entrance. We had a comfortable seating area in front of a gas fireplace, and a teddy bear on the bed! The owners, Gene and Linda Merlino, are incredible hosts: friendly, helpful, and innovative. The main building has a cozy common area with fireplace, game tables and wine available. The dining room is perfect: linen, fresh flowers, and the biggest and best B&B breakfast we have ever enjoyed. We have stayed in B&Bs from Moab, Utah to the SE coast of Ireland. This is the best B&B experience we have ever had!

We called last minute before a weekend with plenty of fall colors and landed the last room at the inn. How lucky becuase it was so great and decorations for fall everwhere made it so inviting! The architecture and decor was a treat to the eye. Breakfast was made to order and the owners making special pumpkin bread for that morning. Breakfast in the sunroom was a highlight. We got engaged while in the area and came back to the Lamplight Inn to grab some champagne. Linda was the sweetest! A perfect place to have a getaway. It is out of the was of the trouristy part just a bit. And their dog is cute too! I would advise anyone to come stay here!

This B&B was excellent. We stayed in the little cottage two houses down from the main house. There was one other room in the house besides ours. The house had a nice sitting room, with a game room as well - the board games were already there too. The management was great, very helpful and accomodating. Breakfast was made to order, with friendly help getting us exactly what we wanted. The only "problem" was we put out the do not disturb sign while we were gone, thinking we didn't mind using the linen and towels again since we were only staying two nights, and when we got back they had come in and cleaned everything up and gave us fresh towels....Darn. : ) The place was great, and really centrally located between Lake George and Saratoga (we did both cities in one day), yet moderately priced for a beautiful place. Would definitely go again.

A friend and I were going to the Adirondack eXtreme course (it's awesome! Go do it!) and we needed a place to stay. I'm particularly fond of B&Bs and he'd never been to one, so I started to looking for some close by.

I called the number to the Inn after 10pm and immediately got an answer from a very warm and friendly woman who made the reservation in a snap.

After a very long day of swinging through the trees, my friend and I were absolutely exhausted. Pulling up to the Inn, it was a very well-kept, inviting property. The gentleman (I assume the owner?) who greeted us was friendly and extremely helpful in pointing out a good restaurant down the street to get dinner.

Entering our room, it was spacious and very comfortable. We stayed in the seperate cottage behind the Inn in the French something-or-other room. It had a large bed with a jacuzzi in the room. Let me tell you -- that jacuzzi was worth its weight in gold for our tired muscles!!!!!

The bathroom was nice with generous amenities - soap, shampoo, hairdryer... plenty of towels once you included the super comfy ones by the jacuzzi.

Everything was extremely clean and well-kept.

The next morning, breakfast was plentiful. The fruit juice was some of the freshest I've ever tasted and we were treated to some yummy cappuccino muffins. You definitely don't have to worry about walking away wondering where the nearest McDonald's is! There's plenty to feast on right there.

Check out was a breeze.

Overall, it is a very lovely Inn with nice rooms and a good breakfast. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a comfortable place to stay with just a hint of pampering in the air.

The perfect place for a romantic getaway, we enjoyed our stay here immensely. Accomodations were first-rate in every respect, the inn is beautiful and well maintained, the rooms were super clean and beautifully appointed. Gene and Linda were terrific hosts, very friendly, informative and accomodating; they definitely know how to run an inn. The Lamplight is a ideal place to unwind and relax, even if you can only spare a few days. I can't say enough about the breakfasts, they must be experienced and will be the highlight of your stay. The Lake Luzerne music camp is minutes away and a bonus if you can attend. We would heartily recommend the Lamplight Inn. For us, it is the standard by which that we will judge every other B&B.

The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming, the food was excellent, and the rooms were impeccably kept. Just make sure to get directions from the inn rather than the web since their directions are much clearer.

My husband and I were having difficulty finding a Bed and Breakfast to stay in after we dropped our son off at sleepaway camp in Speculator, NY.

About two weeks prior to our trip I spent hours upon hours looking at Inn's to stay at. The Lamplight Inn caught my eye but for whatever reason I did not contact them. With our son safetly at camp we were feeling the pressure of finding where are we going to stay. Luckily we came across a sign for Lake Luzerne and I remembered visiting the website of The Lamplight Inn. I dialed their number and Inkeeper, Linda gave me the news that they had two rooms left. I asked if we could view them before deciding if we wanted to stay which Linda said was fine.

From the moment we pulled up the driveway and viewed this beautiful Inn from the outside we knew we would be happy here. Once inside we could not get over the beauty and comfort of this victorian Inn. Not to mention it was immaculate!

We ended up spending our first night in the beautiful Rose Room and our second in the Skylight Suite which included a King sized bed and a Jacuzzi tub. We had a wonderful relaxful time and enjoyed a generous breakfast both mornings.

It's not a matter of if we will come back... it is a matter of when?

  • Liked — I liked that this was a great place to relax, re-connect, that was beautiful, hospitable and very quiet.
