When we booked the Lamplight Inn, it was because it was located between Lake George and Saratoga, but we were concerned it might be off the beaten path. No worries! This place is spectacular and just a 10 min ride to Lake George Village. This place is gorgeous. You walk into another time when you walk through their doors. The decor is turn of the 20th century and just beautiful with it's soaring ceilings and antique woods. We stayed in the Sky Light suite in the inn itself. It's decorated like an old library, but this one has a two person jacuzzi and fireplace - so relaxing!! It had 10' ceilings with beautiful linens and a full bath. Everything was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The breakfasts are to die for, more food than you could possibly eat! Unlike a B&B, breakfast is served anytime between 8:30 - 9:30 and you are at your own table (the way we like it). The dining room is surrounded by lace curtained windows with white linen tables and quiet music in the background. Very formal looking, but so relaxing you can feel free to come down in your slippers! After dinner at a fantastic french restaurant (Bistro Le Doux) we came back and played a game of scrabble, and finished off a puzzle that was laid out on the large table. We haven't done that in years!! The inn itself is located on a beautiful piece of property. Just a short walk across the street is Lake Luzerne and this flows into the most beautiful waterfall - it you don't do anything else, make sure you stop here and take a few pictures. The hosts, Gene and Linda, were just what you want them to be: friendly, helpful, upbeat and out of site unless you need them. They've been doing this for 27 years and they have it down pat - there isn't anything they haven't thought of - all your needs are met and then some. After spending a day in the hustle and bustle of Lake George and Saratoga, you'll want to come back to the peace and serenity of the LampLight Inn!
