I've never in my life found a restaurant to be so consistently wonderful that I've felt inclined to write a review, but people should know about Ciro's and so I am stepping up to the plate, no pun intended, to tell them!
Ciro's is friendly family owned restaurant with a warm inviting ambience, open year round, and the entire family works there, Mike, Ginny and their sons. Their friendly staff are really "part of the family" as well. The restaurant itself rests on a rise of meticulously manicured lawns and greenery, rich with the splendor of the Adirondack Mountains.
Chef Mike Ciro prepares the delicious foods and his talent for cooking food is relentless. Whether it is Italian food, seafood, beef, chicken, salads or pasta, it is simply marvelous. The seafood, chicken and Italian dishes are my favorites, just the thought of the scallops are YUM YUM. I'm not sure what he does to the common green bean to make it delectable, but he does! I've stopped trying to figure out how they do it, I just go along for the ride and enjoy. The sauces and creams are delectable, the portions are of the size that we always take some home with us. In other words, if you are looking for a high priced sophisticated solitary sprout on a plate, this isn't the place for you! Ciro's serves generous portions at a great price for hungry people.
I have to mention their pizza, which we get every Friday night. Again, I can't explain it with words, you just have to try the pizza. I don't know how Mike makes it, but why question the magic? Logically it must be the high quality ingredients and their skillful blending, but still I wonder, how to they do it? Attaching the adjective 'gourmet' would be accurate, but that takes the fun out of it, magic is better.
When you walk inside the restaurant the first impression is that of the rich golden patina of aged pinewood walls, lit by soft amber lamplight, the woodburning fireplace during the cold weather and that ever present kettle of soup next to the fireplace. Mike and Ginny have decorated their eatery from top to bottom with greenery and homey looking Adirondack art and antiques, softly accented with tiny lights. When you walk in and see this you relax and just know you're in for a treat.
Ginny Ciro keeps this restaurant so clean that the cleanliness in and of itself is something that the the diner actually notices.
But the food, oh my heavens, the food is fabulous. Perfect in every way!
