“Can I give 7 out of 5 stars??”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014

This place is no less than palatial! The artistry is incredible, from the handcarved doors to the exquisite room appointments. It's worth every minute of the very long and slightly confusing drive (Limaru Rd but tell your drive a few km past St. Paul University). I would come back again and stay for weeks!

We were allocated this hotel as a stop over between flying to Nairobi and heading out on safari. It could not have been more perfect. Absolute luxury with full spa bathrooms in every room, huge suites with very comfortable beds and good bed linen meaning we all had a great nights sleep following a night of travelling and were refreshed again for a week of safari. This hotel is also set outside of town which for us was another benefit. A short trip in got us to Carnivores for lunch and then the giraffe sanctuary but after we came away from the noise and dust, congestion and smoke for a refreshing over-nighter. The food was exceptional but take time to read the descriptions of the dishes rather than assume from the titles - this is not a criticism it was beautiful food. Finally and most importantly, the staff were exceptionally attentive and you really did feel like you were their sole concern.

Room Tip: We had three rooms, one ground floor and two first floor, all were stunning. The whole hotel is ser...

Awesomenessssssssssss....... It is a beautiful, Serene, Colonial masterpiece all Suite Hotel.... Each and every time you feel that all the staff working there are there only for you....so personalized, So luxurious and exceeding all expectationssss.

Bravo Rahul Sood (Group MD - Sun Africa Resorts) for managing this masterpiece, hidden treasure.

Grand piano, Wooden Colonial Stair cases, Marble fountains both inside and outside resort...Hotel Manager Linda is a thorough professional person and will make sure all your demands are met even before you utter out the full list.

It is a drive away from the city centre and the weather is to die for....

Menu is awesome and the Beef Curry and Thai Mango Salad were my favorite in my 3 stays of 3 days each in the same holiday period.

Suites are massive, luxurious and superb, no words can do much justice to the place...

Once in Nairobi, Sovereign Suites is a must must, if you cannot stay there for any reason, please visit at-least for an awesome lunch or dinner, mark our words, you will love it...

Walking distance in the resort itself, there is massive tea plantation, a lake for fishing and boating....

Awesome service, awesome staff and a must visit place...

We both enjoyed a lot .....

Love and Prayers

Rohit and Sandra Beri

Room Tip: 301 is the best suite....

Two great stays inside a week and both well near perfect once again.
Food, including breakfast - served a la carte - exceeded my expectations
and while the Egg Benedict was, well, more of an Egg Sovereign, the chef
agreed to rename it, all the food was mouth watering. Internet worked,
and fast, everything in my suite was in ship shape and the tea served
in the room came with a major order of muffins, on the house that was.
The tray of sweets was utterly tempting but mindful of my waistline I withstood
temptation, until that peckish feeling at night threw all good intentions out
of the window and then I wished there had been more than the six on the tray.
The hotel has a wide selection of teas available for guests to chose from and
the Kenya Marula met exactly my specs for a refreshing pot of tea, freshly
brewed of course.
If I have one fault with the kitchen it is the size of their portions, too large in
fact, and overeating comes easily here with death by chocolate mousse
a real possibility.
Excellent attention throughout the stay and in fact a perfect place to
stay for the first or last night on a safari circuit, outside the hustle and bustle
of the city itself. The nearby Limuru Golf Club invites for a round of afternoon
golf to walk the stiffness out of the bones after a long flight, not that I needed
that as I came from the city, escaping for a few days. Comes highly recommended,
once again I should add as this is my third review over the past two years and
it only got better.

Room Tip: All the rooms are in fact suites but some are bigger and better than others ... invest in a presiden...

This property is a wonderful place to get away from the congestion of Nairobi. It is one hour, $60 taxi drive from the airport (at rush hour it takes 2 hours). The photos of the property and rooms are accurate. The rooms are very large and beautiful. This property has the potential to be a ‘5 star’ but lacks attention to details, and details are what separates a great hotel from a good hotel. For example: in our room both light bulbs in our bathroom were burnt out, our shower did not have hot water (though the bath did), the Wifi in our room was one bar… so we needed to sit in the lobby to get a connection, the beautiful pool is very cold (needs heating), and the beautiful wood throughout the historic house is dry and the floors very scratched. The wood cries out for some attention and an oil treatment. The hotel reminds me of a high school band which has all the right instruments but the delivery is unrefined. That said, I found rooms for $159 (booking two days) which = a great bargain in Kenya. For $159 then this hotel is worth the journey. Caveat: make sure that you print-out the voucher that Agoda sends you - I just had the confirmation number and spent needless time working out the payment at this remote hotel. I had a huge hassle with Sun Africa Hotel which billed me over and over a much higher rate. 3.5 stars

It's located some few kilometers from Nairobi and has the best views around. The area is a tea farming area.huge chunks of tea plantations.it has the good rooms and surrounding is calm and quiet.security is maximum and food an drinks are good.one day is never enough because you need to be taken around to see some of the individual farmers who process their own tea.it has the state of art structure and it's a place worth visiting. It's home away from home.

Very warm and friendly service. The room has a lot of space.
But far from Narobi city - at least 15Km - a totallly different place from what it is on google map. When there is a trafic jam, it takes at least 45 mins to get into the city center.
It would be much more convinient if one rents a car and lives here.
