“Not limited at all!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

If you're in Lalibela, you must see this - as breath-taking in its way as the rock-hewn churches! It looks a bit like International Rescue's headquarters, both the view and the food are worth the walk up the hill. Of course the famous shepherd's pie is a find in this country, but don't be unadventurous: the home made soups are very tasty (love the tomato) and the local cuisine is top class as well - all local sourced veg. Don't believe the 'limited menu' comments - there's plenty to choose from and the big thing here is that if it's on the menu, it's available - unlike a number of other places nearby. Susan makes everyone welcome and the gathering round the fire pit makes for convivial conversation with newly found friends. it'll be even better when the accommodation is finished so it'll be a quick stroll to bed at the end of the evening.

“Stunning architecture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

As you drive toward the restaurant its quite a shock to see such futuristic architectural in the wilderness of Lalibela of all places. Met one of the owners (Susan) and she took the time to discuss the design of the building, her work with local communities and of course the food. Young staff are friendly, helpful and efficient, they even made up take-away parcels of cake so that we did not loose touring time. Our group of seven enjoyed a variety of juices including watermelon and layered mix of avocado, papaya and mango. Eating outside at high level, overlooking stunning landscape is definitely a great experience and detracts from the fact that the food is quite simple. Those who had traditional Ethiopian food enjoyed their meal the most.

“Great View - go for the sunset over a beer and meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

This is a uniquely designed restaurant that overlooks the mountains in Lalibela. A perfect place to wind down after a busy day sightseeing. It can be a bit chilly up the top after the sun goes down . but don't worry they have a nice pit fire you can retreat to while you chose from the menu. Both Ethiopian and 'farangi' food are available, followed by a selection of cakes biscuits or desserts. The lovely Scotish co-owner makes sure everything is okay and her business partner is equally the good host. Due to the spread out nature of the hotels in Lalibela ad how popular this restaurant is - it is a good idea to book and make a reservation and a car to pick you up for a small cost.

“Definite destination”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

Uniquely designed place with a spectacular view located on the hilltop, with a relatively diverse menu of good food and some imported wines.  They arranged pick-up service for us on the first night, and on the second night we just walked it.   Very good service, and fast wifi, too.

“A breath of fresh air”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

A breath of fresh air, both literally, sitting on top of the mountain top appreciating the spectacular scenery, and figuratively, their service excellence and attention to detail was top notch, a nice change from some of the other restaurants we had visited. Owners Susan Aitchison (Scottish) and Habtamu Baye (Ethiopian) are very hands on and hospitable , and they have a great community orientated approach. From the employment of about 20 locals, and the intriguing architecture (work of young Ethiopian architects), to the planting of thousands of trees, it really feels like they are making a positive influence in the lives of the locals.
