My wife and I stayed a night at Still Bay on our way to the Adirondacks to pick up our kids at sleep-away camp.
Positives: The setting is quite nice, on a gently sloping lawn on Lake George. There's a sandy beach and boat house. There are also BBQ grills and picnic tables that allow families to have a nice meal without having to go into L. George Village. Breakfast was solid-- a selection of muffins, pastries, eggs and sausage. The grounds are large enough so that you're not right next to rowdy and loud neighbors on either side of the property. Guests were small families, couples and groups of adults as the property caters to all. There is free wifi, which is a major plus, but it is one of the few amenities offered.
Negatives: The rooms are very small, definitely dated and in desperate need of an upgrade. The bathroom is probably no more than 2' by 4', with room for a miniature sink and a small stall shower. Beds were reasonably comfortable, but the bed spreads had some stains and the lime green wall to wall carpeting was pretty gross.
All that said, we paid about $210 a night and thought the property offered an attractive value, but it's tough to see how one could award this 4 or 5 stars given the quality of the rooms and no swimming pool or tennis court. We would go back again with our kids for a few days, but it's hard to see how most high-end travelers wouldn't see this as a bare-bones, no frills property (resort is really not the right word).
