“Lake George is a Lake to be enjoyed.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

There are many facets to Lake George.
The lake itself is 32 miles long and offers wonderful swimming especially in the mid to late summer. August us a great month to be IN THE LAKE.
Around the lake are many things to do. Eat at one of 100's of restaurants.
Sightsee on one of the many boats that tour the lake from Lake George Village.
There are a few main areas of Lake George.
1. Lake George Village at the southern base of the lake. It is a tourist town with lots to do mostly in the summer but they have events throughout the year.
2. Bolton Landing on the Western shore about 1/2 way up the lake. This is a smaller and more upscale area. It has a nice shopping area. It is where a great LG hotel The Sagamore is.
It is across from Log Bay which is a shallow place where boaters park and hang out.
3. Hague is on the western shore closer to the top. It is a small hamlet with a few shops & restaurants.
Between Hague & Ticonderoga is Rogers Rock State Park. It offers camp sites on the lake. It can be crowded & noisy on weekends, but it is nice during the week - even if it rains.
4. Ticonderoga is a small town at the top of the lake. Ft. Ticonderoga is to the east of downtown. It is a great place to visit and even have a meal. Make sure you drive up to the top of Mt. Defiance. Great views.
The eastern shore of LG has small Hamlets and Black Mountain which is a day hike.
In the middle of the lake there are many islands on which one can camp.
The Lake George area has many things to offer the person who wants to be in our near this beautiful body of water.

“Nice area lots to do in the summer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

We visited Lake George at the end of September and were surprised to find almost all the restaurants and shops closed for the season. We had just been to the Lake Placid area and everything was still up and running there! There are a couple of restaurants open year round which are very good and did get to do the Lake boat ride and Prospect Mountain. All in all a nice place to visit, but before Labor day!

“scenic”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

Lake George is scenic, but there is not much open there in September. We just went and were disappointed that very few restaurants are open on weekdays. The historic park was a good hiking opportunity and good vantage point for photos of the lake. The town is clean, but not much happening. Unbelievable that you still have to pay for parking and no bathrooms were open at the park! Sad how do you expect to attract Fall tourists? We left!

“A Trip Down Memory Lane”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

Growing up in the Adirondacks, Lake George was like Disneyland. The same old stuff is there, and I'm impressed with the quality of new restaurants and pubs. A great place to visit. However, people are a bit odd, as they are in the Adirondacks, and the locals are not very friendly for people who depend on tourists.
