Spent the past weekend at Mountain View Cottages. Great community set up. Cottages are very cute but a bit dated. With that said they are very, very clean. Nice fire pit to sit around on a cool fall evening. Great location. Fantastic dollar value. Plus it is dog friendly-which is terrific. Vinny is a very gracious host. And he is truly happy to have you there and willing to do just about anything to make your visit a positive experience. Happy to provide dinner recommendations; even shared the menus with us.

My extended family rented 3 cabins here in July for a week. We usually rent a house, but dropped the ball this year and were scrambling last minute for a place to stay. With 6 adults, 5 kids, a limited budget and very specific requirements, we had little options. On paper Mountain View Cabins looked perfect for us, in reality it just didn't cut it.
First off, the owner Vinny is extremely friendly and accommodating. He's really trying to bring this place up to a better standard. He was constantly walking around cleaning and updating things. We had a couple of minor issues in the cabin and he was on top of it right away. It's hard to say anything bad about the place with an owner like Vinny who is clearly trying very hard to ensure you have a wonderful experience at his property.
The cabins themselves were all pretty dated. Our stove looked older than me, so did the flooring and the electric outlets made me a little nervous, but I have to say they were all very clean.
The one bedroom cabins are tiny. My family of 3 was cramped in there. I can relate it to staying in a camper. The two bedrooms are much bigger and easily can accommodate a family of 4 comfortably. If I had to do it again, I'd definitely splurge for the 2 bedroom.
The cabins are also very close together. There is NO privacy. The one upside to this was my baby monitor worked anywhere on the property. While my 2 year old was sleeping in our cabin, I had freedom to roam. The downside is you're at the mercy of your neighbors schedule. Everyday it was late night noise from the campfire and kids on the playground at 7am. Still, at about $75 a day for a self contained cabin with A/C and a full kitchen, I feel hypercritical complaining. Especially considering the location, which is an easy 5 minute walk to the center of Lake George.
The pool is heated and the kids loved it, just be prepared for a lot of rules when it comes to the pool. I got a 10 minute lecture on pool safety when I checked in.
The playground was the social gathering spot for the kids. It kept them busy and happy. The cabins sit in a semi circle around it, so you can keep an eye on them at all times from any cabin. It's only downfall is the ground is dirt, not grass. Parents be prepare for a lot of showers and trips to the Laundromat. (which luckily is a half minute drive away)
The consensus with our group was we wouldn't stay here again. It wasn't that there was anything wrong with the place, we're just used to more luxurious lodging. This place really does have all the amenities you need for a nice family vacation, if you're OK with a step up from camping.

I rented a two bedroom cabin(#7), one queen and two twins bed. It had a small kitchen and a living room. An air conditioner in each bedroom cooled the whole cabin during some pretty good early july heat. The rooms are a little rustic, but I didn't come here to hang out in my room. The cabin owners, Vinny and Mary, really go out their way to make everybody feel taken care of. Vinny was great! He would tend to the evening fire and have great local knowledge of things to do in the area. The cabins are conveniently located a short walk from many good restaurants and shopping. There is plenty to do in the area or you can hang poolside and relax. I rarely used my car except to get supplies at the store and to go to the great escape. There is a cool hike up prospect mountain nearby for the adventurist , we did it! Check out my review on that. We are going back next year.

The housekeeping cottages are a perfect place to stay because you are so close to everything in Lake George yet not on top of all of the craziness of the strip and great value on top of that. A word of advice to anyone who has never stayed in a housekeeping cottage is that if you are looking for a B&B, chain resort or luxury hotel experience I would suggest looking up how housekeeping cottages run before you decide on coming here. Its designed more as a home away from home for weekly and extended stays where you would take care of cleaning and cooking for yourself. Very family oriented and friendly atmosphere. Mary and Vinny will stay up by the fire and chat with everyone and make sure you know everything thats going on in the area. The pool is clean, the cottages are cozy and clean, there's plenty to entertain the kids with if you want to stay home a day, and every night theres a fire going where all the people usually come out talk. Its a real Adirondack experience and I'll be looking forward to making it a tradition for the family in the years that come.

A last-second flight cancellation left me dreading a 9-hour haul across two states, but the cottages and the staff immediately made the trip well worth it! The perfect location in Lake George, the friendly atmosphere at these cottages made for the best family reunion ever, even during a weekend of non-stop rain; I'm already planning another visit for this summer!

We had a wonderful vacation here in early July and strongly recommend it as a place to stay in Lake George.

The cottages are situated in a nice quiet area and a very short walk from the restaurants, bars and attractions in Lake George. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and suited our needs perfectly. Facilities such as the swimming pool, BBQ and games etc were readily available to use when we wished. The log fire in the evening was a lovely opportunity to sit and chat with fellow guests and our host.

However the most special part of our stay was the warmth and hospitality of owners Vinnie and his family. We received are very warm and friendly welcome on arrival and all through our stay they took the time to stop for a chat and check if we were enjoying our stay. We wish them continued success and hope to make a return visit someday.
