“Expensive outdated hotel.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2012

Hotel needs a total make over, and a cleaning crew to come in and clean the miles of dirty carpets and walls. front desk professional. Checked in Sunday night without a reservation, so hotel was very quiet, but the walk up rate was extremely expensive. Business center was good. But I wished we had kept driving. This hotel is nothing like any holiday inn that I have ever been too. Will not be returning.

It's a great hotel, with excellent staff, service, food, location. Nice pool and rooms are comfortable and the decor is attractive. Easy to get to other areas in Hudson Valley, as well!

Have stayed here several times in the past years. Very good hotel. It is an older Holiday Inn but is kept in good shape. Didn't use the spa or pool but both looked inviting. It has a restaurant which was nice when I was to tired to go out.

I stayed here recently for two nights on business, and I will not be back. Although it looks like the owners have started to make some repairs/upgrades, they are a long way from finished. This place has seen better days. The AC unit in my room was feeble; some of the buttons did not work and it took it many hours to cool the room. The bed was nice; good mattress, clean sheets and a selection of pillows. The bathroom was not very clean (upon arrival found hairs sprinkled around, left from previous occupant). The workout area is a raised platform above the indoor pool, unique but a little strange. I felt like I was on display while I was running. The hotel backs up to thickly wooded railroad tracks, and the general location is not good (looks economically depressed, with down-and-out types drifting around). I would not recommend walking out to the parking lot alone after dark. Despite this, the outer doors to the hotel were frequenly propped open during my time there. I looked over my shoulder a lot when going to and from my room. The price for this hotel was cheap, but it is still not worth it. I will definitely stay elsewhere next time.

Dear freqflyer67,

Thank you for writing a review about your recent stay with us. We work very hard to ensure our facilities and service are superior and we strive to be the best Holiday Inn around. We appreciate your nice comment regarding the bed, mattress and the clean sheets.

However, It sounds like we fell below your expectations especially on bathroom cleanliness and some room amenities such as the air conditioning. We take all reviews positive and negative very seriously, and your feedback will help us improve for our next guest or your next visit.

Sincerely,

Orlando A.

Hello I Stayed at the holiday inn kingston during the summer of 2011. First of the holidome A/C was broken so when you walk in to the hotel it is hot as hell. Second we had to change rooms 2 times. Because we were a big group my family asked for connecting rooms. we asked for the connecting room when we got there but some other family took those rooms. First we had a cute room. After a minute It began to become very hot in the room. The air in the 2 rooms were not working. So we Switched rooms in the other two rooms the same finally we found rooms that were not connected but had a working A/C. The Food is not good at all. There are some good local pizza places. late in the night the restaurant/bar. play live music. I woke up because it was so loud. The band was like a group of 60 year olds. Me and my cousin wanted to go swimming we tried to go in the holidome(the pool/game room area) it was so hot that we could not breathe. And they do not have an elevator. and with a 13year old and a 8year. in the middle of the night. is not good. I request you stay at PIKE LANE BED AND BREAKFAST. it was very nice and the have good food and in the afternoon they have cookies for you to nibble on. DO NOT STAY AT THE HOLIDAY INN KINGSTON!!

Room Tip: 'Rooms on the first floor are cleaner"

I have been staying at this location now for seven years and the staff is just the greatest.
Although the hotel has seen some better days, the staff is always happy to help out. I just finished a three week stay there with a lovely front desk, bar, and restaurant staff.
A thank you to Tom and Sue at the front desk, and Mike, Steve and Rose in the restaurant area. The bar staff pours a great drink, and the food is always good and made to order.
The rooms are of good size and the showers are wonderful.

Room Tip: The rooms in the back have a great view of Esoppus creek.
